Looking for a blade suggestion for a 40s SS

I absolutely love the Red Pack Personnas in my Merkur HD, but so far they haven't worked very well for me in my 40s SS. I've only shaved 3 times, but I've gotten irritation that I never get with my HD. The SS seems more mild when I'm shaving but it doesn't seem to do as good of a job and has cause the aforementioned irritation. I probably just need to adjust to the new razor and figure out the correct angle, but I'm going to try swapping out the blade as well.

So can anyone recommend a blade for me to use next? Jake sent me a couple of Iridiums that I'll definitely try as well. Here's what I have:

I am in the same case.

I frequently use a Slim ( at number 5) with red Personna, and so far very good, but after seeing all the nice comments about the 40's SS I decide to get one. I try it, and as you say, while shaving felt much milder than the Slim, but afterwards, there was a lot of irritation on my neck and jaw line. First thought was, hum ..... I got a bad blade, replace it by a new one and had another go, not luck either, so I thought perhaps was a problem with the Personna blades and I tried Derby ones instead, not luck either, there was much less irritation but the shave wasn't so close as with the Personna. Finally I decided, perhaps, there was some thing wrong with this particular 40s SS, as so many members can't go wrong about this razor, so, I decide to buy another one. Today I have received the "new" 40s SS but I have to sterilize it and have it ready before I have another try to this "marvelous" 40s SS. Perhaps I will be testing it by next week, as right now I am evaluating a Feather DX.

The worst that could happen is I end up with two 40s SS !.
Should I be disappointed with them I will let them part to other members.

I am curious about your evolution. I'll stay tuned !.

I haven't had many blades not agree with different razors, but in my 40's SS I prefer Astras.

Actually, I prefer Astras across the board, but I haven't tried every blade yet.

I find that the Crystal works well in my 40s SS. It works well in my other razors, also (Gillette Slim adjustable and Ming Shi). I've never had a bad shave with the Crystal blade in any razor.

+1....Feathers are the only blades I use in Super Speeds & Rockets.

I will be testing the Red Box Personnas in my 1940's SuperSpeed later this week. I have found the Israeli Red Box Personnas work excellently in my Red Tip with no irritation or abrasion but cannot comment on the 40's SS.

Feather is almost perfect for this razor with Crystal slightly behind. Super Iridium is in third, but preferred in the Red Tip.
