Long handle super adjustable repair?

Today i was given a long handle super adjustable date code Z3. The adjustment knob seems to be stuck. I can hold the head and turn the knob and it clicks but no movement. when i hold the handle the knob does not turn. can this be fixed?

I would try to DE gunk it firstly. Put it real hot water ( not boiling) and include some kind of dish detergent like Dawn. As the water cools, take it out and play with your adjuster, from 1 to 9 and gently open and close the doors. Repeat not boiling water. Put it in hot water and Dawn and repeat this for few days until you feel satisfied that the has been freed from gunk. The key element here is patience. I had similar issues with my beloved razors and these exact tactics helped me solve the problems.
