Likey the Latakia!!

So I've tried Dunhill's Early Morning Pipe, Peterson's Dublin and Boswell's Northwoods. Of those, Northwoods is my fave. I'm thinking of trying Night Cap and Frog Morton...are they different enough from Northwoods to try? Opinions on these blends?

Also, I assume it's the latakia that gives it that strong, smokey flavor. Any other strong, wake you up in the morning type of blends out there?

I just read the other thread regarding strong tobaccos. So I might either try Frog Morton or Night Cap...not sure which yet.
What I get out of Northwoods is a leathery/campfire taste. Not sure if the other two are similar.

I also am a fan of Latakia. Frog Morton was what started it all, so yes, you will want to get you hands on some. It is quite mild, but so smooth and flavourful, and has since become my go-to smoke. It'd probably be my all-day smoke, too, but I only have two bowls a day (where do pipe smokers find the time?). Since then I've been experimenting and have come across some strong stuff (Peterson Irish Flake, Solani Aged Burley Flake) and some interesting stuff (Solani Virginia Flake w/ Perique). It's all been good, but not what I was looking for. Common ingredient missing in them is Latakia. I also grabbed a bit of Mr.B's Day's End as it's supposed to be an alternative to the famous Latakia bomb, Dunhill Nightcap. I can't speak to the similarities because I've yet to smoke Nightcap, but I can tell you that it is a nice full smoke with plenty of Latakia. Very nice tobacco but I believe it is primarily found in Canada. Like you I'm also itching to try Northwoods. (I'm open to any private/non-B&B-hosted trades or sales involving Northwoods or Nightcap. I have lots of shaving soaps and creams, cologne samples and decants, and razor blades to barter with.)

I tried McClelland's Legends tonight for the first time a great Latakia blend and I highly Recommend it, more excellent Latakia blends I would recommend are, MC Blakeney's Best Latakia Flake, H&H BlackHouse & Larry's Blend, Esoterica's Penzance (good luck finding it), Dan's Old Ironsides (good luck finding it), the fullest Latakia blend I have tried to date would probably be Captain Earle's Ten Russians, and a couple others greats with Latakia are SG Commonwealth and GLP Westminster.

Yes, EMP doesn't have Latakia, it's just Virginia and Oriental, Nightcap is fuller with Virginia, Perique, Latakia and Turkish (much better IMO), Dunhill's 965 is also great although not as full as Nightcap.
