Lavender Soap/Cream

doctordial

my brain goes "thonk"
I know I'm going to catch for this, but I'm looking for a really good fragranced lavender soap or cream. Something not very expensive.

Mike's Natural Soaps - one of my favorites
Castle Forbes is good but more expensive
Stirling has a couple that I have not used
If B&M didn't discontinue theirs, that was elite
Ethos I've heard nothing but good things, but again, expensive

Lavender TOBS may not be in the cheap range, but is an exceptional cream.

Cremo Lavender is nearly as nice and is a much more affordable cream.

In days past, DR Harris had an exceptional Lavender soap, but I have not tried it since most everyone dropped tallow in their better soaps.

My favorite is quite expensive. Czech and Speake Oxford and Cambridge is a lavender and mint scent. There used to be a Fine Classic knock off, but, that has been discontinued. I still have both of those. Ach Britto Lavanda doesn't really smell like lavender to my nose, and, Ethos lavender was rather soft or sweet to my nose. There was another recently discontinued cream, but, that doesn't really help. Martin de Candre original has lavender notes. Again expensive.

On the cheaper side the tallow based Cyril R. Salter is available cheaply from U.K. based Connaught Shaving, they also carry Phoenix and Beau Lavandula. Maybe get those two together to try. They also carry Saponificio Bignoli Lavanda Balsamica and Extro Lavanda Muschio though the later is out of stock at the moment. Already mentioned is D.R. Harris which Connaught also caries. That should be enough to make shipping worthwhile. There are bound to be many others, but, those are the ones that spring to mind and simple searches I have done over the last few minutes. Don't shy away from some of the more expensive like Martin de Candre and Oxford and Cambridge. they both are harder soaps and last quite a while as does the soap version of D.R. Harris.

Let me second the Cyril R. Salter shaving soap recommendation. Great lather with a significant lavender component in the scent. Also the scent is strong enough to stay with the lather during the shave.

Kiss My Face makes a lavender shave cream. I haven't used it but their unscented is on of my favorite soaps or creams, and I think they use only natural fragrance. It's not too expensive either, although the shipping can be significant.

B&M had the best, but they weirdly discontiinued it a few months ago. You can find it, still. Shannon's Soaps has a lavender. I've not used it but I have used several other soaps she makes and all are great.

The best lavender fragrance I have tried is Castle Forbes’ lavender. It’s an outstanding cream, the scent is very natural. It’s a bit more expensive though, but a little goes a long way. The matching aftershave balm is also very nice. I had a sample once, sadly the hole bottle costs 36€ here in the EU, a price I am not willing to pay…

A more affordable shaving soap would be from Cyril R. Salter. I smelled it a few months ago but didn’t purchase it, so I can’t comment on its performance. The scent was subtle but quite nice. 👍

Loved this. Just loved it. That’s why I don’t buy B&M any more, or Noble Otter, or a couple of other soaps.

I’m tired of having the rug pulled out from under me. I think Cella will remain, S.V. Will not discontinue my faves (new to me, so maybe that’s a naive hope), Haslinger seems to be prett stable, Stirling keeps making my faves.

But soap makers who made favorites and pulled them, I won’t buy from them again.

B&M Lavender in their Reserve base became a desert island pick for me, once I learned how to lather it. I never got it in whatever their base is now, but if it’s gone, I just struck them off the list of makers I will ever buy from again.
