Lathering a soap or cream in a bowl

I have a question for the experienced. When I lather in a bowl I notice that the majority of the lather remains in the badger brush I am using, while the rest is in the bowl.
Is it better to squeeze out the lather using my thumb and forefinger, back into the bowl, which kind of miss-shapes the hair ends of the brush,or should I just lather my face with
the fully loaded brush of lather.I have done the last option, and it seems to apply the lather thicker and more evenly to my face and neck than squeezing out the lather in the bowl, and then applying to my face and neck.
This might sound silly but I am looking for the best way to bowl lather since my RF scuttle should be here anyday now.
Oh, by the way, since I a have added a couple of drops of glycerin and a touch more water, the lather has a nice whipped peak to it.:001_huh:

I'm curious about this as well. I have been squeezing it back in the bowl but today for the first time I didn't.

I was using Tabac creme. Really couldn't tell much of a differenc? But I'm still working on my technique, as I'm only about a month into DE shaving.

Now I'm curious. Typically, I bowl lather, but I always end up with way more lather in the bowl than in the brush. I do a two pass shave and always have more than enough in the bowl for that, though there is a good bit in the brush as well should I ever need it. I'm wondering whether the difference between your experience and my own has something to do with the way the brush is whipped around while lathering.

watch some of the lather building videos mentioned on B&B - use the search function and all will be revealed. (I'm a face latherer.)

I do a touch of both face lathering and bowl lathering, and I always just use what is in the brush first (no pinch to bowl). I think it really just comes down to personal preference, if you like your lather, then go with it.

I leave the lather in the brush, and slap it on my face after building it in the bowl, while picking up what's also in the bowl with the brush. for my second (and last) pass, I'll brush it on again, then take my thumb and index finger at the base of the bristles, squeezing all remaining later out through the tips so that it's resting essentially on the web of my thumb, put the brush down, and using my clean hand, pat the remaining lather onto my trickier areas for the ATG pass. gives me a deeper cushion of later to shave with, and I feel less wasteful.

but it's all technique. find the one you like. I often face lather on the road, but it tends to be dryer than I generally like for straights.

It depends on how the lather is coming along. I use a pretty dense brush (24mm knot) so often, the majority of the soap is in the brush and not in the bowl, but if I'm still in the process of hydrating the soap and building lather I will squeeze it out and continue lathering. If the soap is of a good consistency I will keep it in the brush and start applying.

Thanks KW DRIVER
I think I will leave the majority of the lather in the brush, then lather my face, I do 4 passes. Like I said, it seems to apply the lather rather well what's in the brush. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I've heard using a boar shaving brush the lather works better and stick on your face. I use arko shave stick and sometime I face lather which works best.

You shouldn't have to squeeze any lather out of the brush when you bowl lather. I bowl lather all the time in a scuttle and have no issues.

Lather, whip it up good, the apply to face in circular motions and then finish it with the painting/slapping strokes...this is what gives it a nice thick, yogurty consistency (which i like)

Bowl lathering usually generates an abundance of lather, so don't skimp on you face. take a big brush full and apply.

Here are a couple videos...one a soap, one a cream as an example.

This one was done for fun, as a member asked if lather could properly be made with 1/4 teaspoon of AOS...turns out it can.

Cream in bowl:

Ater watching the videos ,like watching magic, I can't wait for my scuttle to arrive! And like I said, I do my second option, leaving the lather in the brush and not squeezing it out back into the bowl.
Thanks for the comments, they are very helpful, and it reassures myself to leave the lather build-up in the brush and work my face over with it.

I don't think I ever shared this one (wasn't 100% happy with it), but here is another soap (Mystic Water) bowl lathered in a scuttle.

for video purposes, I never fill the outer bowl of the scuttle, but for shaving I obviously do.

After I'm done my last pass, I will often squeaze out the thick, lather goodness from the brush, apply to my face and leave on there during brush/razor clean up, then rinse it off.

This one shows my technique for achieving the thicker, creamier lather using the painting strokes:
