I've been straight shaving for about a month, and I have found the ritual to be quite enjoyable(when not in a rush). I picked up a nice Dovo 5/8" straight, silvertip brush, and a nice strop from SRD after I realized I was serious about wet shaving and could no longer stand to use a shavette.
However, I have been trying to convert the LOTH to a DE rather than using a cart razor as she has for so long. So, I picked up a nice blue Lady Gillette off of ebay for fairly cheap. She has used it once and commented that she "didn't see much difference in smoothness between the two". I, however, have used it several times and have found it quite enjoyable to use.
Now, my quandary is this- I think I prefer DE shaving over straights. This is due to the fact that my straight shaving technique does not currently allow me to get as close a shave as I can with the DE. I can also shave much faster with the DE than I can with the straight. Now, I'm kicking myself for not trying DE shaving before moving to straight razors.
Do I sell my straight razor gear and pick up a nice DE set? Or, do I just save the straight for those times when I can take as long as I want to shave? I'm seriously thinking about picking up a Merkur Vision and selling off the straight...
