What's new

Just tried an injector for the first time and not sure if I can go back

I have been wet shaving for about 6 months and thought I found that the slant or open comb was the perfect razor. Since finding that locally I could score some injector blades for $6.99 I thought what the heck I want a birth year razor and decided to buy an injector from 1973. It came in the mail today and wow is all I got to say. Got the quickest closest shave since starting. No problem finding the angle either and neck, jawline, and under the nose were no problem to shave. My RAD was saying Ikon slant but now I will have to find a new injector target.

I love injectors. If you can't shave with an injector, you shouldn't drive.

Agreed, and especially if it has a built in stick shift

Just to stir your pot a wee bit then, it appears a new injector is heading to production:

I am really curious to see how many shaves I can get out of each blade. Hopefully they will last at least a week.

Very nice looking. The really am not a fan of Speed Schick but it was that or the tennis racquet that are from 73. Going to look for some other razors soon and probably looking to eventually trade or sell a couple double edges to fund this endevor.

I don't really like the overall aesthetics of the speed shick either, but part of me wants one, for being one of the few and proud (These days in America anyway) who drive a manual trans.

Nice piece, good luck with your new injector obsession.

I just bought one of those generic looking L type injectors off of Ebay along with the Schick injector blades. Going to take it for a test run tomorrow for both head and face shave.

My favorite injectors are my I2 Hydro-Magic, G4 "Schick 66" and my PAL adjustable. All deliver effortless BBS shaves and the blades have great longevity. As Mr. Flay pointed out there is a modern injector coming out (hopefully before the holidays) that should stir up a renewed interest in injectors. I, for one, can't wait to see what Phil and Lee have come up with.

I found two more locally for $8.00 also found 3 fatboys and black beauty for $50 using those to fund more Injector RAD :). Wife is starting to like this hobby after all.

First shave this morning with the L type knockoff and Schick blades. Shaving my face with it was a no-brainer. Angle is super easy to find and got CCS with a two pass WTG/ATG. No nicks or irritation at all. Hardest part on face was remembering no pressure as it handles so much like a cart razor it's easy to forget you are not using one. As for the head, for the parts I could see it was a snap, but had a rough time with back of head which seems par for the course. Did the same two pass shave as my face and I wound up with couple of rough spots on the back of my head and reopened a nick on top.

Only just started using an injector (L type) & as you say, they're dead easy to use & bloody difficult to abuse.

Maybe it's the angle I'm using, but although I get a great shave, I do find the stubble is noticeable earlier than when I use any of my DE razors.

Ideas?

The L type schick is very mild, try a G or E type or maybe the pal injectormatic i use them all and find them very smooth.

Just my 2p worth.

What angle are you using? I don't have a copy of the instructions on this iPad but the original Schick instructions said the head was to be almost completely flat and you were, contrary to what is posted here about most other DE's and SE's, supposed to use some pressure. They encouraged it and still said it was safe. That works for me, otherwise injectors are too light.
