What's new

Just arrived the other day.Semogue 610 & 1438

Hi Gents: Hope all is well with you & your families. Just arrived the other day from Vintage Scents: Semogue 610 & 1438. I am a big fan of Semogue. I also have a 620 & SOC that I truly love. The 620 is my favorite.

I have not used the 610 or 1438 yet but I cannot wait. Just wanted to know your thoughts & personal reviews of either the 610 or 1438. All I know is that both are gorgeous and I love both handles.

They make a great pair. Although I don't find it mentioned as often as some of the other Semogue brushes I think the 1438 has my favorite handle of all of them. Simple but classic. Great choices!

I just got the 610 in the mail today and used it right away. It is a great brush and I really like the size for face lathering.

I was also shocked that the brush was soft on the face for being new and it had no boar stink like my B&B boar brush had when I first got it.

Look forward to your reviews of both brushes.

I have a few "high price" brushes, but find myself reaching for the 610 frequently.

I love my black handle 610 so much I bought a red handle 610 for the rotation.

The handle of 1438 is beautiful, but one of 610 is probably more comfortable. Enjoy the both! The good thing about Semogue brushes is that they do not shed and do not smell (just a bit).

Oh the 610!! I love the look of that brush. My only Semogue is a 1250 but this will be my next Semogue purchase. Likely from the same vendor. Very interested to see your review Mel! (Looks like your un-restrained purchasing is going well :biggrin1:)

My 830 on its way to being broken in.

Nice brushes, Mel! Enjoy them--they're in capable hands and they have a good home. I found
the 1438 to be more of a lather maker than the 610 and for some reason the break-in time
was much faster for the 1438. But after getting an 830, I found 'the' Semogue for me. However,
the 1438 is a tough Semogue to best in a low-loft brush. They both look really nice; and I think
you'll find the 1438 really delivers a rich and voluminous lather--I found it to be a superior lather
maker to the 610 (I face lather). It may have to do with the way the cosmetically banded bristles
are processed on the 1438. Breaking in a new brush is a great journey for us and one that I know
you enjoy. Have fun with both your new brushes.

The 1438 is a great looking brush at a great price. The tips broke in more quickly that my Semogue 1800 and, like others have said, is perfect for face lathering. So far, it is my favorite boar!

When I had the 610 I also had a 620. As a face latherer I found the 610 just a tadd too floppy for me, as I say the 620 was my go to brush then. Both since gone and replaced by Omega boars, the #34 being the Omega equivalent of the 620.
