Jojoba oil

I've been using Jojoba oil as a pre-shave this week, and I have been loving the effects.

I don't normally shave every day, as the whiskers aren't very long after 24 hours, and the skin seems to like the day off as well.

But, I'm away on a business trip this week, so a shave every day is what I do to pamper myself. What I've been doing is rubbing some jojoba on my face/neck in the evening (talk about PRE-shave!), and let it soak in, then wipe down my face with a towel and hit the sack.

In the morning, I take a hot shower, as per usual, get the whiskers nice and soaked, then rub in some jojoba....I make sure to wash my hands, as a slippery hand and a straight is no way to start any day...

Lather up and shave as per usual after that. Nothing particularly noteworthy as far as adding to the shave goes that I could discern, but the condition it leaves my skin is quite noticeable. 3 pass shave every day, no problemo.

Good stuff!

I've been using jojoba oil as well, off and on for the past few weeks, and agree with Seraphim, I like the results. Again - it does not seem to add much to the shave itself, but doesn't detract either - but it does seem to leave smoother feeling skin afterwards, compared to when I don't use it.

My prep is as follows: wet face thoroughly, and work the water in by itself for a good minute. Wash the face with natural soap. Pour 4 drops of jojoba oil into my palm, and rub it onto the beard area. Splash the face with water again, leave dripping. Wash hands with soap to get rid of the slickness, then lather up as normal, and shave.

I have the same brand, Desert Essence, as pictured in the OP, and got it at Trader Joe's.

There is one downside though - after a few uses, my brush seems to be a bit matted, and needs to be re-cleaned with a mild shampoo. Anybody else notice this?

My brush seems to be fine so far, but I'm a shave soap kinda guy, so maybe that keeps the oil at bay? Definitely want to wet out your whiskers first before applying the oil, as it is somewhat water repellant.

And no, I haven't dropped one yet, but there is always the phobia of doing so!
