Jogging and sweating as face prep

I've been talking with jgkeegan about blades and then the use of a hot towel as prep. I tried one yesterday but didn't have the time to really do its magic.

However, today I started my morning of with a jog and it was a little hot and humid here in Myrtle Beach. I have to tell you that I worked up a pretty good sweat.

Anyway, I showered and went about my shave and it was incredible. It seemed like the blade glided over my face, no irritation, and got a DFS/BBS with almost no effort.

There were two things different today...I have a new Simpson Polo 8 that I used for my face lather and while it was awesome I don't think I ended up any more lathered than before. The other variable was trying out an Astra Super Platinum for the first time.

That all being said, do you think exercising and getting hot and sweaty is going to do the same thing for your face as a hot towel?

Astra's are very likely the smoothest blade. Feathers are sharper... I think Astra's have the highest rating in smoothness and closeness.

They are extremely awesome blades... my personal fav.

In a word, yes. I've had some of the closest shaves after exercising or sweating profusely. I think that this has something to do with your pores opening up really wide to let the perspiration out, but I have no proof of this. It could just as easily be the whiskers soaking up liquid over a greater period of time. All I know is that a hot towel or hot shower has nothing on hot sweat.

Did you compare with simply shaving after a hot shower?
Because I believe that hot towels come second after a warm shower.
Try it out with the same equipment but without the jog and see if there
indeed is a difference.

Then let us know because if sweating does work, I will do it aswell.
I guess losing weight and whiskers every other day seems like a healthy
program!!

cheers.
