JabonMan shaving soaps.WOW!

I have not been on the forum much lately but I thought I would drop in and give my review of JabonMan shaving soaps. I got them from Manuel in Spain.
I got the following soaps:
- Vetiver/Mandarin (unfortunately, no lanolin in this scent)
- Lime/Cinnamon (with lanolin)
- Wet Earth (sample)
- Eastern Breeze (sample)

Packaging:
I received the box, nicely packed securely. Upon opening the box, I saw two little "potato sack" type bags which contained the tins of soap. What a classy way to pack, it's a really nice way to present the soaps and I really like it.
The tins are very nice. They are not your standard aluminium tins. They are slightly different in shape (still round of course) and have a nice JabonMan sticker on the front and ingredients on the back.

Scent:
What can I say?...Manuel is a Wizard with his scent combinations. Each and every scent is so DIFFERENT and UNIQUE, they really wake up the senses. It's hard to explain but for example, when I sniffed the vetiver/mandarin, it was just so unique that my brain woke up and was working out the nuances of the scent. Wet Earth totally got my brain going. It's not just a "soil" scent. All the scents are extremely COMPLEX and PLEASING to me.

Manuel doesn't have many stock standard scents, most of them are excellent combinations. The lime/cinnamon gave me a slight tingle (very light) as I am sensitive to cinnamon but it was so slight and the scent is so lovely that I couldn't think of not using it! The scents are not so strong that you suffocate but present enough to easily enjoy.

Lather:
The soap itself is very much like Mike's in terms of consistency. One major difference with JabonMan is the look of it is less like a soap and more like a putty, if that makes sense. They also have some specks of various ingredients.
Lathering up the soap is very easy. It takes very little effort to get a slick, yoghurt like lather.
I didn't think a non-tallow soap would perform as well as JabonMan does. I am really not into non-tallow soaps as I have tried so many with performance well below good tallow soaps. JabonMan definitely performs like a good tallow soap.
The lather is very much like Mike's (which is a great thing!) but I would say JabonMan is a little easier/quicker to lather up.

Post shave:
Not too much to say here. JabonMan lives up to my expectations of post shave feel. It's nice and protective and leaves the skin really nice after the shave. I had no irritation at all and my skin felt soothed (just like it does after a MWF shave).

JabonMan doesn't have a website. The only way to order is via an email to Manuel ([email protected]). He will email you back with scent options and ordering instructions. The transaction was very pleasant and easy! Manuel is a pleasure to deal with.

Overall, I would highly recommend JabonMan soaps. The scents are unique, complex and totally divine. The performance is top notch and skincare is very soothing.

Nav,

I couldn't agree more! I have three of his soaps and have samples of four others. These soaps have to be some if not the best out there. Manuel really knows what he is doing. A truly luxurious shave is had when you use his soaps. As long as I am shaving, one or more of Manuel's soaps is going to be in my rotation. Right now, it's all three! And Christmas is coming up too! Hmmm! :santa:

This is another soap that seems to be establishing itself as a major player amongst the artisan made shave soaps. I have not used it yet but it is most certainly on the radar. I always liked the fantastic scents these small crafters came up with but most of the soaps were really unusable as shave lathers. This has been remedied by a few who now make some of the best. I know I have said this a few times so forgive the reduncancy; it is a very good time to be a wet shaver.

Cheers, Todd

I just got some myself, but unfortunately I had a bad skin reaction to it. Otherwise, it was very good.

I have all the entire collection of Manuel  .. I have to say that only two reactions caused my face, is at the height of the top soaps with tallow ... and makes fools in performance to La Toja in my humble opinion. The other day I got the coconut and the aroma is simply amazing :001_tt1:

I wish I had gotten a full tub of the Eastern Breeze, it's delightful...but I am a sucker for spicy citrus or woodsy citrus so the lime/cinnamon and mandarin/vetiver have hit the spot. I just love how unique the scents are. With Jabonman, you can be pretty sure the scent combo will not be something you have experienced before, which is great as there are so many overlapping scents with soaps these days.

I am looking forward to using them with my Semogue 1305 boar as I have only been using my Simpson Best badger so far with Jabonman.

They sound nice! As a long time wet shaver (new to DE) I'm tired of can foam and gel.
I shot Manuel a mail.
Will post again after I start using his soaps.
Thanks for the recommendation.

Just got my jabonman soaps from Manuel. Agree with everyone, he's a great guy to deal with and sends the product out quick.
He threw in a few nice samples for me too, so know I have 8 of his soaps.

I've spent two tins of Lavender-Bergamot-Cypress and a tin of Lavender Jabonman soaps.
I love specially the Lavender-Bergamot-Cypress.

Now I have this two of the pics above: Violets and Roses

Great write-up. I recently received several Jabonman soaps and have to agree - they are excellent! Manuel is cordial and easy to deal with. The one downside with these soaps, when compared to US-sourced soaps is shipping fees and shipping time, both of which are out of Manuel's control of course.

Manuel gifted me this soap a couple of weeks ago, by surprise. At this time no lilacs in the flower shop, so I had to shoot the pic only with incense. Thanks Manuel, my friend.
