Ivory tower

A couple of months ago I picked up a vintage ivory handle - Rudy Vey worked his magic and installed a nice D-01 2 band fan in it and I got it back earlier today. The knot's about 25/50. The handle is well preserved, nice patina and Schreger lines and a few fine but stable cracks. This complements my only other ivory brush very well - also vintage, a big moppy Simpson PJ with a 29/60 knot in a softer grade of silvertip that was done by Shavemac some years ago. Kind of the Yin and Yan of brushes. From a quick test lather the D-01 has a very nice feel - plenty of resilience but also good flow through. I'll try it out for face lathering in the morning.

The Rooney "Style 3" weighs about 150g, the PJ about 130g both with knots. The table is from India, I have one about 2 ft across (pictured) and one about 1 ft. It's hardwood inlaid with ebony and ivory. These were quite popular with UK expatriates in the 1930 and 40s who brought them back to England. I inherited them from my grandfather who spent some time in India.

very nice whats the ivory in the handle weight ?
im loving the table care to share its story ?
