What's new

I've Decided, I am getting a Shavemac

As the thread title says I have decided to get a shavemac brush as my next brush. Looking at their site, my current leading favourite is 167-2B handle with a silvertip D01 knot.

My only question moving ahead now is knot size, loft and knot shape. 99% of the time I bowl lather with creams with the odd soap thrown in occasionally as I try new things.

What do you guys reckon for the three parameters I mentioned and/or if you think another handle would be better?

Cheers,
Gavin.

I own more than a bunch, all are custom made.
Look for the 'Expert selection' on the shavemac site. Type 'Expert' in searh field to find it.

Order from there.
This will not be your last Shavemac, trust me :001_smile

The 24 should be nice. It will be scrubby feeling on your face at that loft. I prefer the fan shape myself. Keep in mind that the Shavemac knots are bigger in diameter than stated. As Ralph said you can always get a custom brush. Shavemac makes great brushes.

Ok so on the custom brush the 167 handle is there aswell so i will probably get silvertip D01 knott in that but again what knot/loft combo do you guys reckon for bowl lathering.

I was thinking 23/48.

D01 knots are dense and quite scrubby. If you are happy to have your brush like that, then the 23/48 combination should serve you well. Obviously adding a little more loft will give you a slightly softer feel on the face and more splay.

If you order a 22/48 you will end up with very close to 24/48 as measured at the top of handle. That would be a good combo.
