Is witch hazel a balm/lotion or a splash?

Lotion and splash are essentially the same thing in the wetshaving world. So I would say it could be considered both a lotion and a splash.

Thanks for the responses. I screwed up, I thought this product was a balm. I bought three splashes, but wanted to apply a lotion after splash to moisturize my skin. I ordered trumper sandlewood skin food & proraso aftershave balm. Hopefully they do the trick. Not sure what to do w this witch hazel now

Do what millions do. Rinse, dry, apply witch hazel and start your gear clean/straighten-up routine. By the time the gear is all 'shipshape and Bristol fashion' the witch hazel is dry (and no longer aromatic). Then apply your splash/lotion/balm. I guarentee that if you do this religiously you will one day pick the correct number combination for the lottery. Or maybe not. Anyway it'll do you good and help you too.

I always use witch hazel and a balm in combination as part of my post shave routine. Use it and try it out and see how you like it.

Witch hazel is magical stuff! Even on days when you are not shaving, apply it with a cotton ball or cotton pad after washing your face, once dry, follow up with a moisturiser. Some of the Thayers scented ones are great if you keep them in the fridge (cucumber and the lemon ones come to mind) I have heard of some people transferring them to a spray bottle and using them as a nice refreshing 'spritz' in the summer.

It's great for insect stings, sunburn, oily skin, diaper rash, pretty much anything wrong with your skin would benefit from witch hazel applications.
