Is a shaving stick best for women?

My wife has a growing interest in DE Shaving. I recently picked up a pink star Lady Gillette for her. She shaves in the shower, and it would seem to me that a shave stick would be the best choice for her due to this. I also do not believe that she would have the patience to use a brush, so would applying the shave stick to the legs and then working up a lather by hand work well? I am hoping some of the lady members can chime in here and help me out. Also, any recommendations for a good brand/scent for a woman?

Once she tries a brush she will like it. My wife finds it very relaxing and soothing. I don't know about the stick but I would imagine it working fine.

A shave stick should work quite well enough, or as Go West Young Man says, a tube of shave cream; a brush isn't strictly necessary for one's legs. When I'm in a hurry I forego the brush and work up the ol' Lady Cremo straight no mixer and by hand, and I get perfectly good shaves. Once she's got the hang of it that way, you can try introducing the brush on a day when she's not rushing and has some time to kill. +1 to Leche's wife; I find the brush very soothing as well, but with the sheer amount of real estate involved, I find it does tend to lend itself better to days when I'm not strapped for time.

As far as scent, what does she favor in skin creams, body washes, and perfumes? That should give you some idea of where to start.

My gf still used a multiblade razor... one step at a time, that's what I keep reminding myself!

But when I realised that she used body wash instead of shaving cream I bought her some Trumpers Rose soap. Now when she wants to shave her legs I whip her up a batch up girly scented rose shaving lather. She loves it. In fact the other day she commented on how nice it was having warm lather brushed onto her legs. :thumbup1:

It's definitely a good start, Triumph Coupe- have you mentioned to her that DE's don't clog up the way cartridges do, so you don't have to waste time rinsing them as often? That was a big perk when I was considering whether to try one or not.

My wife hasn't expressed any desire to use a brush but she was definitely interested in my brushless creams, so much so that she stole my tube of Trader Joe's honey mango cream. It seems to work well for her so I'm chalking that one up as a win.

She's now eyeballing my razor collection after we saw the increased prices on cartidges and dispoable razors at Target the other night, but that's a different story.

It depends on what your end goal is. If she's going to apply the soap and whip it up, then a stick is probably better. My wife has MB's Chanel 22 and PC Rose that she uses with a Body Shop brush (synthetic = can leave in the shower). Chris' point about brushless creams is a good one, and Cremo Cream just released a ladies version (which, if I understand correctly, is the original Piña Colada scent).

Of course, when I offer to whip up a warm bowl of Taylor's Rose with the big, floppy badger brush, I am never turned down.
