Iroshizuku: a review of some samples

So I have a sample pack of some Iroshizuku inks... thought I would test out some cool colours before I put any thought into the fancy bottles and their price, I wanted to keep a small journal of my trials of sorts and of course share with everyone else interested

First up
Yama Budo, a pinkish purple ink I didnt think I would like but it actually looks really nice on the off white pages of my G. Lalo paper and on a white Christmas card it looks festive

It shades okay but isn't a monster at it ink saturation is a medium its not overly heavy but certainly not watery hence why its shades
It sat unused for three days in my Incincia and when I picked it back up it took zero time to lay down a perfect line... so far no blockage issue have happened yet

I've also had a chance to use Kon-Peki on the majority of christmas cards I have wrote...
This has shown some amazing shading coming from the 1.1 stub nib it blew me away I've seen pictures of the event from other people or in google but this is the first time I had seen it in person. .. I love this stuff and it may indeed be up for purchase

Thanks for the review, James. I'll be branching out into some colors at some point (although, I clearly need more pens so I can have the colors on tap :). That is nice shade of purple.

I have to say, I'm a bit worried about the Christmas Card exchange now... I hope no one expect my cards to look that nice (the writing and the little picture). It'd be a long while practicing before I could write like that James! Good stuff.

James it took me a few days to learn the gothic script... which oddly enough looks christmasy to me.. its not hard but you need an italic or stub nib in this case to have it look right

Thanks for the compliments and don't worry about the card exchange lol I used it as an excuse to bust out the fancy letterz

Yes Bob there is I haven't gotten to it yet... I have it on deck as next though... have you tried it? Or your curious about it?

I look forward to it then.. after these next few cards I have a few letters to write, ill have to change into it for those and report back tomorrow

James the inks look great, thanks for sharing the reviews. I am going to have to pick a few of those up!
On a side note, the Gothic script looks great!

I lost my big italic nib :( but the stub on the monteverde has been a nice substitute until I locate it again

And there are more sample to come too I have I think four more

Couldn't wait to see so I dropped the asa gao into an empty cart for my 1.8 italic sheaffer cali pen

It looks so much better then the pic shows.. so far this is my second fav behind the kon peki

Do not worry, it is not a competition. You are new to the nib, and it takes time to relearn how to write. Mine is getting better, but I have tons of room for improvement. What is important is that you jumped in and are willing to take the time to go through the hassle of going to the post office to spread some cheer.

+1. Yah, don't worry. James (the Canadian one) is just a show-off!
