I was just recently awarded permanent guardianship over my four-year old grandson. That means I will raise him up to adulthood.
Among many firsts, such as starting school, Cub Scouts, playing catch with his first baseball and glove, investing for university, etc., I have been giving some thought about his very first razor when he becomes man enough to shave for the first time.
I've been thinking of purchasing, ahead of time, a Gillette Blue-Tip Super Speed as I understand it is a mild razor for a young lad just starting out.
If not that, have been thinking of passing on to him my NDC, notched Super-Speed (1948-1950?) or my mint C4 (fourth quarter), 1957 Tech (my birth year and quarter razor) in their original cases, since I already have those on hand.
Somewhat unfortunately for him, he has a deep cleft in his chin like his late father - and I mean deep, sort of like "Dudley Doright". That might make shaving something of a challenge for the young man when he just starts out.
If I should purchase something, I figure I might as well go ahead and do it now before prices become outrageous for nice razors in another twelve years, or so.
Should I go with any of the above? Any other suggestions?
BTW, like his late father, my grandson is a British South African. Might I even go all out and acquire something very esoteric and look for a beginners British manufactured razor - just for "giggles and grins"?
Like what my grandson might have used had he grown up in South Africa like his father did.
Warmest Regards,
David
