I went to the post office the other morning to mail out a few packages, and looked at the Priority Mail Rates, I never paid any attention to international postage before.
Small Flat Rate Box (about the size of a VHS tape) USA - $5.80 Canada - $19.95 All other countries - $23.95
I can tell you that shipping rates from the US have gotten very ridiculous in the last couple years. It's gotten to the point where I can order things from basically ANYWHERE else in the world and pay less for shipping than if I order from the US.
Latest example: Just ordered a CD, and the shipping from the US would have been $12, whereas the shipping from New Zealand was $9.
you want first class package rates. you need to keep 1st class under 4 pounds but that's the cheapest way. still insane compared to what the rest of the world charges to ship to us but it is what it is. fedex & ups are WAY more expensive.
google: usps notice 123
that is their price list, which was just updated in the last couple weeks.
at the end of the intl section is the country grouping lists. find out which group the UK is in and then go back few pages to the 1st class package (retail) chart and lookup the weight in ounces to find the price.
