Interesting pictures

The main Catalan newspaper follows newly-elected Catalan president, Artur Mas, the day of the elections.

Guess how he begins the day:

That smile looks genuine! But is he BBS?

Hmmmm. Now that I think of it, I've never seen him (on TV or pics) properly shaved. Kind of big pores...

The pics do have a lot of significance, as he represents the traditional Catalonia, a unique blend of european conservatism and economical support to medium-small sized, familiar-run business, that have traditionally been the vast majority in our region/nation/state.

I do believe he is not into wet shaving -though it would not surprise me either- but very probably a regular customer at his barbershop.

Interesting picture to present to the voters. Kind of traditional and radical at the same time.

Here in Aus they'd only do something like that for a publicity stunt. There'd be some half-arsed shave releated joke comment about the other major team for a soundbite afterwards. Google Tony Abbot and speedoes for a particularly unfortunate example.

I like the thought that he's comfortable enough with his position to let someone with a straight razor near his neck...

Tom:

The smile on your Mayor's face post-shave is something I believe we can all relate to with our own experiences with a great shave. Also, that barber shop appears to be very well-equipped with great looking chairs and the barber looks like a real professional complete with a tie! It's always fun seeing how other countries perform different occupations. Thank you for sharing.

I couldn't agree more!

I was amazed at the chairs too! I've seen my share of barbershop chairs, but these ones have something of a unique class and glamour.

The barber in the pictures is, I have been told, one of the best professionals in Spain.

I think the barber himself would make a good president or at least the vice-president. He's distinguished and handles himself well.

The barber is very discreet and wise and has hidden the President's black hair dye in a drawer. A true Valencian the barber.

(Notice that the barber is using an orange cloth, which probably means he's a double agent for the Dutch as well). You can learn a lot from these pictures.

Overall, I must say I prefer the barber as President, but of course I don't get a vote. :001_rolle
