What's new

Innis & Gunn..Its a gas gas gas

My new favorite beer !

Numero Uno Fav: Innis & Gunn Limited Edition Highland Cask
Second Fav: Innis & Gunn Rum Cask
Third Fav: Innis & Gunn Original Oak Aged

Initially, I bought some of this to take 'Old Speckled Hen's' place in a Guinness Black and Tan (I like a true ½ and ½ but Harp is bottled in Canada for the US market and seems to have lost something in its translation ?

Ok, all you EuroBuds with all the great beer selections, bear with me.......I can find Innis & Gunn in only two locations in about a 100 mile radius...so good imports are hard to find.....Fortunately the closest one is about 3 miles away. (Sigh)

My initial thoughts:
A little pricey here but just wonderful to my taste buds...the only short coming for me is that I have to take about 3 Gas-X tabs before consumption or sleep on the sofa.... BWAHAHAHA!

I love the stuff

I love the stuff, but price and availability keep me from having much input on your problem. I think I have just had plain Scotch ale, but loved it. A good Scotch ale or Old English style ale is very underrated. Also love som Hen. Good luck, though, the local brewery/pizza place does the same to me.

A 4 pack of the Highland Cask or Rum Cask cost over $13.00 USD - including tax here. Worth every penny to me, though. At least they have over 7% alc. So, 4 of them have a little bit of a kick. I will definitely see if I can find "A good Scotch ale". Sounds interesting......
Thanx

Love me some Innis and Gunn - the bourbon barrel aging adds a nice kick to the flavor.

Belhaven is more common in my house.

I will certainly try Belhaven if I can find it. Is it a Scottish brew ?

Don't laugh but, I just poured some single malt Glenlivet 12 yr into a glass of Innis & Gunn original and I believe I will try another one just to see if it taste as good....wonder if this is something common in Scotland ? I may be on to something good here, or as Herman's Hermits sang "I'm Into Something Good"...here.

You might sometimes pour a wee dram into a beer, but never a single malt!
Sacrilege!
Belhaven is also Scottish.

I wanted to celebrate after I received some good news at work. I almost grabbed a bottle of Flying Fish Nut Brown. I grabbed a bottle of the Innis and Gunn Oak aged instead, my local liquor store also had the Innis and Gunn Rum Cask. I think I'll grab a bottle of the Rum Cask tomorrow. Because of you enablers I finally tried Innis and Gunn, THANK YOU.

Congrats on your good news!
I picked up a 4 pack of the I&G Original oak cask yesterday and also a 1 pint 9.4 oz (large bottle ) of the 'Highland Cask'...its getting hard to find the Highland Cask here as it is a limited edition. Its Aged in malt whiskey Cask. I am getting to where I like the Rum Cask about as good ?
If you liked the taste of the original oak cask , I believe you will end up favoring the rum cask ? Also it has a tad more ALC. at 7.1 % as opposed to 6.6 % with the original oak cask. I bet you can do a blind taste test and tell them apart :)

Please send me some Highland Cask. Neat, though. Here in NC, we have so many craft breweries, imports are kind of scarce.

LOL
I can still get the Highland Cask in the large single bottles only. After the local liquor store ran out of the 4 packs, I was told that they were not going to be getting anymore Highland Cask 4 packs. I hope I&G will release some more next year......
Dang that stuff is good beer....BTW, I had a Bud light in the Frig left over from some company and poured just a taste of some single malt into it....I am sure it wasn't 'a light' anymore but it sure tasted better...bwahaha

I think if you poured the Veg into Bud Light it would taste better.
