What's new

Inkwell

Would anyone know of a nice looking ink bottle that could be used on a desk? I was looking at the new Edelstein ink and love the way the bottle looks, but it seems like almost everyone is sold out of this ink. What other bottles might have this same look?
TIA

I haven't seen other ink bottles with that much clear glass around the base, which does indeed look pretty cool. I'll be interested to see if anyone else knows of any.

I guess I should have called locally instead of looking online. Dromgoole's had Edelstein in stock.

That's interesting. I know Dromgoole's has a large selection, but I didn't know they carry Edelstein, but then again, I hadn't heard of Edelstein until your post this morning, so probably just overlooked it in Dromgoole's.

I can see the bottle is really cool, and would make a good keeper to refill with other inks, but what is Edelstein's ink like?

It's a brand new Pelikan ink that just released last month after a long hold in customs.

Check Gouletpens they have it in stock I think,

check also the Caran de ache bottles, though the inks are expensive!!!

On the vintage side: the old Parker Quink bottles have a nice deco/fluted look. Parker SuperChrome (horrible ink, great bottles)...diamond shaped cobalt blue glass. Carters ink ... very cool labels (many different ones). Sanford pen ink cubes... hobnailed-type glass.

Not to hijack the thread, but since Drew has found the Edelstein ink he was looking for, I wanted to show a picture of the Sanford Ink Tester that was used in stores. I have one just like this, and use it on my desk to hold whatever fountain pen I'm using primarily at the moment. It's 2-inches tall, and will work for other pen types, too. Before I started using this, I ruined several shirts by laying a pen (rollerball and ballpoint) down and then touching it with the sleeve of my shirt. This prevents that, and holds the fountain pen upright, too. The wide base makes it almost impossible to tip over.

And I use a glass frog, similar to the one the lower right below to keep a few other pens handy.

I personally really like the Pilot Iroshizuku ink bottle. I've got the yama-guri color, which is a dark brown, and have found it to be a stellar performer thus far as well. The biggest (and really only) downside is that it's one of the most expensive inks out there. It runs about $35 for a 50ml bottle. :scared:

I've been looking for something similar myself. I'm thinking that there are some pretty nice looking perfume bottles that might fit the bill.

Just by looking at that photograph, it doesn't appear as though the mouth is wide enough. Great looking bottle, though.

Hard to say from the picture. You'd fill it with a funnel. The neck only has to be just wide enough to get your pen in. Of course it would depend how thick your pen was...
