Injector, thumbs up; Injector blades, thumbs down

Okay, so I can remember my mother shaving her legs with an Injector and so I wanted to try one for nostalgia's sake. Well, the angling is easy, I could play with the loading system all day long, the razor itself is decently balanced if light...but the Injector blades seem terrible to me. It has only been three days on this blade and I feel like it is sandpaper against my face. I have tried different angles, insofar as you can change your angle with this razor, to no avail. There is a lot of discussion on what DE blades are quality, but I don't think with Injectors there is any choice--you use the official Schick blades or nothing. I wanted to like this razor, but it's hard when my face feels beat up. Yes it gives a good shave, but it isn't very pleasant.

I would say try Ted Pella injector blades to me these blades are sharper  and will give you a better shave.

which injector type and which injector blades are you using now? Some are more aggressive than others,
you can use guide to see which type you have,

for the blades, there are not many options, but there are a few.
I have had good luck with the current Chinese produced shick blades, in the orangeish package, and the ted pella blades.

I have a J1 and a J2 and the Schick brand blades. I will have to look for the other brands.

I have an L-type Injector razor. I did not care for the Ted Pella blades at all, but the Chicks have been good for me. Well, I did have a single set of them that were terrible. Once I figured out that I had a sleeve of crappy Chick blades, and switched to a new batch of blades, it has been good shaving again.

Personally I have no tolerance for rough blades. If a blade tears me up, I may put that razor away and switch to something else while I heal. I may give that blade one more pass, and if it is still tearing my face up, then the blade gets removed and is disposed. I can't use Feather DE blades for this reason. I just can use it while it is "smoothing out."

Are you sure that you didn't damage the blade when you loaded it? I've used Chick blades for years and usually get more than 20 very good, smooth shaves from each of them. I prefer them to the Personnas sold by Ted Pella and others.

This is very possible.

Also you should be apply no pressure with an injector blade and respect proper angle (closer to 15 degrees than 30 typical of DE razors) . They are sharp, rigid blades and should provide less irritation than a cartridge razor, and I find, most any DE as well. I have had no problems with any modern injector blade unless damaged in loading.

I have tried both the Chinese "chick" and the Schick blades in my "G" and "E" injectors. I get about 30 days with a blade.

+1. While I don't get as many shaves as Steve, my experience is the same.

I go with Chicks. Mainly because my local grocery stores have them, but equally as important, the Chick injector device is metal and isn't problematic like Personna and Pella's plastic ones.

Start all over again. Load a new blade, preferably a Chick.

And watch the blade carefully as it goes in. I, too, got a bad shave out of one of my first injector blades and xxvaleria advised me to try a new blade.
As I inserted the blade I carefully watched that it didn't drag across the blade stops and then saw it ease itself into saving position like a race car driver settling into his seat.. smooth and sure.. I've gotten at least 12 shaves from a single injector blade.

I like the Chick blades by far but in my G injectors it has a tough time with this one patch of stubble under the chin on the neck (only my most efficient razors tackle this spot handily, i.e., the ball end Old Type or MMOC). Overall though, a very smooth, comfortable shave.
