Ingrown hair?

Hi all, just wanted to seek some advice please, just directly under my bottom lip I have what I think are ingrown hairs, my reason is this when I run my finger across this area it feels like little ridges and bumps and when I shave across and/or against the grain here I always end up with a lot of cuts and nicks thus leaving this area very sensitive, any help is very much appreciated thanks.

When I get an ingrown, I take a regular un-coated aspirin tablet and put a few drops of water on it. Then I make a paste of the aspirin and water and apply it to the ingrown area and leave it for about 10 minutes, then I wash it off. It really seems to help clear up those problem areas of ingrowns or acne for me.

Ive read that you want to be careful not to breathe in the aspirin powder.

Nivea Energy for Men pre-shave scrub. Use it every morning while in the shower. Scrubs the face clean and helps the hair tips find their way out.

Well, if you are still shaving with a standard multi blade cartridge, this won't help any. Switching to a safety razor with a single, sharp blade will. Along with that, proper care of your skin, before and after the shave will really help. All of these things together can yield some amazing results.

As discussed above, a good wash/scrub with a face wash will help. Lathering your face with a boar or badger hair brush will add additional exfoliation to your face. A good shave with a sharp blade, followed with a good astringent and/or balm. Witch Hazel is fantastic for your complexion, both as an astringent after shaving and as a face cleanser prior to bed. If you use some quality shaving soap/creme with natural ingredients and use a balm or aftershave that is equally natural, you should see some real improvement within a month.

And natural ingredients doesn't have to mean expensive. You can buy a tube of shave cream that will last you 2-3 months of near daily shaving for $10 or less, and have it contain all natural ingredients that are good for your skin. Same for after shave or aftershave balm. Plain old Witch Hazel is fairly cheap at your local drugstore, or you can buy stuff with aloe and other scents/oils for about $10 a bottle.

Welcome to the forum. If we can help you pick out a starter set of safety razor/brush/cream/soap, just let us know. Don't be afraid to ask any question.
