Incapable of growing sideburns

It might be down to my age (22) or the fact I don't have the heaviest of cheek growth but I can't grow sideburns I'd love to have some but the density of growth is minimal and it looks completely shabby when I try it. Anyone else fall into this category?

Heck, I could grow Elvis chops if I wanted to...But these two quotes would best describe the top of my head. So for me, the sideburns would look silly.​

Heck, I'll take it one step farther- I can't grow a respectable looking beard to save my life!! If I try, after a couple of weeks my wife will inevitably inform me that I need to shave because my beard looks "pubey."
