I'm stumped on this combination set.

So went to the antiue fair and there laying unceremoniously on the ground amongst all the other items that looked like garage sale was this Old type combination set. Paid $35. I knew right away that one of the blades cases belonged to an Aristocrat while everything else looked the same and original. The razor is in excellent sahpe with a small little split on the bottom of the handle otherwise the head and the rest of the razor looks like new. That leads me into another detail. The head of the razor reminds me of a NEW(any one you choose) but the handle near the neck of the razor has Jan 13, 1920 pat. Cleaned it up a bit and looks damn shiny.

My question is- is this the original razor to the set? Mismatched? I'm thinking the latter. After looking over Mr. Razor site and google I'm not finding this set together. Any clairity on this is appreciated. Thanks guys.

For $35 that is a great pickup. The razor is not original to the set though. The razor should either be a gold single ring like this set:

Or a NEW like this set:

There were New Improved versions as well, but I believe they all had their name embossed on the case under the logo like "Traveler"

The razor you have is a ball-end NEW which was not used in any combination sets. Here is the razor you have.

The 1920 Patent date is correct as well.

Thanks. I especially like the fact it came with the more robust NEW head. I think if Gillette could have seen into the future this combination would have been considered. I like the heft of this oc as it's the solid brass handle.v

Thanks Kinge. I'll definitely keep a lookout for one. I see them every now and then. Should I look for the serial numbered one?

Yeah Alex I saw that when I bought it. That belongs to an 40' s Aristocrat. The irony is I pif'd a spare holder not to long ago! Lol. All in good time it should come together.
