What's new

I'm Back!

Some people might know this, but for the past few months I had switched to the Trac II because I couldn't get consistently irritation-free shaves with a DE after more than a year of using one. Having switched to the Trac II, I was guaranteed an irritation free shave and close to BBS.

Two weeks ago after getting bored of shaving, I decided to again try my triangle-notched fat-handled Tech. I used it like it was my Trac II, i.e. not being careful, flying it across my face, and going over areas multiple times (albeit with a very light touch). Two latherings and two passes later, I didn't even feel the Old Spice AS and not a hair was to be felt on my face. What the hell? It has to be a fluke...it can't be.

Two weeks later of everyday use and I'm glad to be back. So, I'm a DE guy and I'm never putting it down again.

Fat Tech and Treet Durasharp blades; I'm content to never try a different combo again.

Welcome back... Yeah i just got back into it myself after a 1yr hiatus and having sold all my goodies. Thought i could do without, but 3pm stubble was a problem for me. When i took clients out to dinner & drinks i looked like a bum in a suit - Not Good! But now i'm back to BBS

Glad things are working for you Kyle.

The best thing I ever did was ditch my WS Quattro kit and move over to real wet shaving. It's truly been a revelation. I could never shave two days on the trot and often would go 4/5/6 days without shaving to get over razor burn and irritation. Now I can shave every day without any problems.

I wish I'd turned to DE shaving years ago.

Kyle, welcome back!

Did you ever figure out what your sensitivity was to certain soaps/creams?

Nope. I was still using the brush and soap with the Trac II. All I know is that unscented Prairie Creations and VDH don't cause me problems. So I think I'm going to stick with just those. However, now I need to try the new lanolin PC, as well as maybe trying some scented versions .

I think the difference was that I use the DE without thinking about it. Confidence is the key, and the fast strokes that go with it.

you have been gone you thought you were done with DE shaving but once DE shaving always DE shaving even if you think of not

Sometime things click right away and sometimes they don't. Often, if you are trying too hard, you never get the results you want. Anyway, it sounds like it turned out for the best. I think the approach you've adopted is correct, which is don't think about the shave too much and let it come naturally.
