What's new

I'm a shaving ENTHUSIAST.

I did something today that left me feeling a bit like an enthusiast. Let me explain.....

I have two small patches of growth on my neck right where the jaw line begins at the chin (each side). It's here that I have the most trouble getting a close shave. I often end up with some burn. Well today as I shaved with my Gillette SS and a Derby Stainless, I decided to apply a touch of "Pink" lube on the two patch areas. For those who don't know, "Pink" is a water based "pleasure lube." It is very slippery and helps tremendously for those, ah hem, intimate moments. Well, let me say that the Pink worked very, very well. It gave me an unsurpassed "smooth" surface (quite honestly, a smoother surface than anything I've ever gotten with a cream or soap) and I was able to clear away the two problem patches without any friction or burn. I don't think that Pink can substitute as a full-face lubricator, but it worked wonderfully on two, small problem areas.

Has anyone ever tried such a method? Please tell me you have, as I don't want to be the marginalized enthusiast on this forum!!:blushing:

Just a fair warning to those that reply. Please keep the comments clean with no sexual innuendos or undertones. There's already several threads similar to this one that have been shut down from mods.

Just looking out for you guys.

And to answer the OP, no I have no used such a method. But there are actual shave lubricants that you can purchase from some of our vendors. I have used Razorock's shave lube and have had terrific results. Gillette recently introduced a non-canned, non lathering shaving gel that acts in the same manner. Both can be obtained for under $10.

I use a touch of GFT Skin Food when doing my final touch-ups. It would never have occurred to me to use the product you mention on my face.

We're all adults here, I think we can freely acknowledge the existence and useage of those kinds of lubricants without being smutty! Honestly I've wondered if it'd work for shaving, but I've not had the balls to try it  sorry, sorry, no references or innuendos...

I've never had the luck to try that kind of lubricant as a pre-shave product. Every time I decided to do that, it happened I'd run out of it.

I think the joke of it all has been lost on some of the posters. God forbid! I used a small touch of the stuff to clear up an ongoing problem area on my face and thought I'd share the results of my experiment. The words of my post itself should CLEARLY show the humor behind it. Funny thing is, I shaved about an hour before I went to church today........

Due to the sensitivities of some, I've asked out moderator to remove this posting. I'll keep things in mind next time I think of posting on such outrageous topics, although I can't image want, if anything, so "smutty" I could post upon in the future.

But the only person to describe it as smutty is yourself...

I have seem previous posts about people add a little extra lubrication to their lather. I've never tried it myself, seems like it could disrupt the stability of the lather though.

Many personal lubricants have liquid glycerin as their main ingredient, which is a pretty common thing for people to add to their soaps for superlathers, and since there are plenty of glycerin based shaving soaps, it's possible to get a decent lather with glycerin.

Pink appears to be silicone or propylene glycol based, and I haven't heard of many people adding either to their superlathers, but that could be due to availability.

(I actually did a slickness test between KY and liquid glycerin and my current shaving soap tonight, to see if the perceived lack of slickness in my soap was due to a manufacturing issue, or whether it was all in my head. After finding that neither KY nor liquid glycerin were substantially slicker than my soap, I decided that maybe my standards for slickness are fairly high.)
