What's new

If you had $25........

My wife's Grandmother has given me $25.00 to spend on shaving stuff for christmas. I am going to order it from on line vendors and the 25 must include shipping.

I'm thinking soaps creams and after shaves I want to make the most of my budget.

So I ask you if you had $25.00 what would you buy?

That depends very much on what you've tried and enjoyed so far :001_smile

Personally I would love a Prairie Creations tallow/lanolin soap for Christmas. And maybe a new mama bear shaving soap as I've just finished the first one I bought a year ago :biggrin1:

Saint Charles shave makes some really nice and inexpensive colognes if you're interested. Their shaving soap is also really nice.

About all you can do with $25 is one Weishi razor and 10 Feather blades. I would add $25 to it and just buy what sounds good to you. If your wife gripes, ask her to go without her lattes and make-up. Women spend more on make-up and lattes than most men can even dream of spending on ourselves! Example: My shaving stuff, shampoo and soap cost me approximately $50-$60 a year (I already own a razor). A single bottle of perfume costs over $100! Lipstick tubes are $20 plus each. Add in blush, pantyhose and eyeliner and you are talking about $1000 a year easily! You would only be asking for $25 extra dollars for some shaving soap. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news (I wish I could get off for $25 on almost anything), but I have provided a good argument if you need to use it.

A tub of Proraso soap and a bottle of Proraso splash is $25.00 shipped from The Superior Shave

Not much for $25! When I was young I could buy a tub of shaving soap, a quality razor with 10 blades and a bottle of aftershave for less than $10 (if I recall the razor I use cost $1.99 in the late 60's, I just saw the price on one still in the package recently)! 20 blades were 98 cents. Now that can cost you $40-$50 easy even when buying on the cheap with the cheapest quality razor costing $7-$12 online, and that is only because they are meant to be sold in poorer countries. Now some may realize why we pine for simpler times.

I would get a few Mama Bear soaps. I just spent $85 there the other day..... but I DID get 8 soaps shipped (not all for me:frown:)

A 12-pack of Arko Sticks is 18 dollars at Shaveabuck.

For 25 bucks or less, you could get enough industrial scented tallow bombs to last you a looong time.

Depends on what you have so far. If you go to Amazon you can get $25 worth of stuff and free shipping if you choose right.

If it were me, I would get Cella and TOBS Avocado as I have been itching to try both of those. You should be able to get both for $25-$28.

Shipping is going to kill you on any purchases that small - you'd be better off going to AoS or C+E and putting all the money towards a quality product.

 I must dream BIG then - you haven't seen the result of my RADs

What a nice Grandmother BTW - God bless her!

I't depends on what you have of course but 'software' wise I'd endorse the Proraso or with $25 you could pick up a nice vintage razor.....

Order some Tabac Shaving Soap (with the bowl if you must).

Go down to your local mega mart, and buy some Aqua Velva Ice Blue, and some Skin Bracer.

All three of these are classic products (and really quite good), and your shaving adventures are not complete until you try them all. :thumbup1:

Surf the 'bay and find something unique that you might like. That way it's more like an adventure, not just shopping.:thumbup1:

I understand wanting to make the money stretch. However, since the money is a Christmas present it might be nice to still have the present a year from now. If you buy soaps/creams etc. they will likely be gone. What about a decent boar brush? You could probably get a Semogue 620 for $25 shipped, and there are quite a few Omegas you could get at that price. That way you have a present which will be a memory of the person who gave it to you, even if you were to give up wetshaving (heaven forbid), you could still keep it on display in the bathroom.

Do you wnat to try something new? Or stock up on something you already know you like? Dollar for dollar, if you haven't tried Proraso or Gorej, I think those are the two biggest "bang for the bucks" out there. Arko isn't bad either.
