Identifying safety razors?

These razors are so darn alluring! I'm seeing them everywhere now, but alas most of the time I have no idea what I'm looking at.

Is there any resource that can help a newbie identify vintage safety razors?

For example, I found this beauty, but I have no idea what it is and thus whether it is worth pursuing... what's the verdict?

I'ot sure what that is but its NOS as the cardboard blade spacer indicates.

Very cool, let us know how it shaves.

Sorry, I should have made it clear that it is not mine, at least not yet. But I am certainly consider it. Thirdeye, yeah I'd reached the same conclusions about it being NOS too!

Is it some sort of a slant razor or is something askew in the picture of the top of the razor? I'd buy it if it was reasonably priced.

I think it's askew due to being loose. Not tightened down, what with the spacer in the way.

I think the cardboard in the blade compartment section is askew, not certain though.

Achim has spoken. His site is the #1 gillette razor resource, and I recommend looking through it a few times until you recognize the main types.

That razor unless ridicously priced is a really great find. Many consider the NEW to be the best shaver out there, maybe not for the beginner since it is a bit aggressive. And as you know YMMV and all that.
