ID needed on 4 razors

Hi all,

I've been shaving with a DE razor for a few years but I'm a relative newbie to the world of old razors. Today I picked up 4 but I can't work out much about them - so I turn to the wisdom of the board (where I have lurked for ages!).

I haven't cleaned any of them yet but I've got a few photos.

Firstly, a quite worn Gillette. About 3" long. Marked on the top with Gillette in a diamond, underneath is a smaller version of the same logo and "Made in England". No other marking on head or handle. I suspect the handle might be a replacement?

Secondly, one marked "Laurel" in pretty good nick. About 3.5" long with "Made in England" "Sheffield" and "Patents Pending" marked in various places.

I will come to 3 and 4 in the next post....

So....

No. 3 is very similar to a Gem but with different handle and marked "Radio - Made in England" and inside "Radio - British Made".

No. 4 is an unmarked travel razor with a very worn case. The handle is in 3 parts made of brass and the head is chrome plated (very worn).

So, any ideas?

Many thanks,

Matt

P.S. The price I paid for all 4? Absolutely nothing!

Just a quick update, I've now cleaned these up and used the Gillette with very pleasing results. The Gillette, Laurel and Radio came up very nicely indeed but the unknown travel one is pretty much beyond redemption unless I remove the rest of the chrome or get it replated.

The Laurel appears to use non-standard blades as the posts are in the wrong place to fit a normal blade. Does anyone know where I might find ones to fit (preferably in the UK)?

Any more thoughts on these razors?

I do think I've started down a very slippery slope and I can see that I'm going to end up with a lot more than the 4 I've started with!!

the Laurel's were made in the UK and all of the ones I have were bought and shipped from the UK, so it would be strange if you couldn't find some of the old blades there. I probably wouldn't use them - their keepers.
