What's new

I Think I'm In Love ...

Evan, what's so special about this juice? I had a bottle about 4 years ago but don't remember it at all.

Well, in honor of JulArlington I've been using Harris's Arlington splash for almost the last 2 weeks. It smells great & feels ok afterwards but tends to leave my skin feeling a bit dry.

I'd never used any of Proraso's products before. However, after reading the many praises of their splash from the faithful I decided I had to give it a try for myself.

Man. What a difference from the Arlington! Even in the palm of my hand, the stuff just feels different. Slicker, more moisturizing. That feeling is reinforced when you rub it into your skin, and in a good way. There's no sense of it being tacky or sticky, especially if you apply it judiciously. And the menthol ... ah, the menthol ... :w00t: The moisturizing, cooling feeling is what this stuff's really all about. You just feel as if your skin is being babied & healed, even if your shave was painless.

The alcohol burn is there too. I found it to be comparatively mild & fleeting but definitely satisfying -- I like that burn. If there's a downside at all -- and I'm really nit-picking here -- it's the scent. It's a very nice, old world, barber-shoppy scent but just a liiiiiiittle too strong for my liking. On me it sticks around longer than I'd like but again, since I like the smell I don't find it to be a major fault.

So, to recap:

- Nice alcohol burn
- Moisturizing & healing
- Amazing cooling from the menthol
- Nice scent, if a little too strong (for me).

If you like menthol imho this is a no-brainer. Go for it!

I think this juice is good stuff, good combo of alcohol, witch hazel and menthol with a nice Italian barbershop scent - I keep a bottle around at all times.

That being said, I don't think its light years better than the AV (original or original sport), but it is definitely a very good product at a very reasonable price. Its also readily available in many B&M stores around me, which is a plus.

This is one of my top two A/S Splashes (Speick being the other). I would agree with you on the AV comparison but for me Proraso wins out on scent, which of course is subjective.

... with Proraso's AS splash. :001_wub:

Why didn't I get this stuff sooner?!?:mad::biggrin:

I realized how awesome it is by comparing it to Floid Vigoroso. The Floid is nice but Proraso has the perfect Alcohol/Menthol combo. Just enough sting to let you know how you did and then an instant shot of menthol after that. The scent is also very nice but doesn't get in the way of your EDT. Floid seems to have more alcohol sting which sort of gets in the way of the menthol. There seems to be a smoother transition in the Proraso. It also contains Witch Hazel and Allantoin. This is good stuff my friend.
