I need assistance

I need assistance from someone who would be able to look at a picture of a brush (Shavemac) and, if possible, give me a heads up on if the brush is fake or not. If that is possible, please send me off a PM.

Somewhere here in the forum there was a post on fake Shavemacs with pictures. It was probably in the brush section, and I think it may have been this year. You might try a search. Good luck!

Found it in October of 2009, titled "Beware of Chinese Copies." Apparently Bernd put out tips on how to spot on his website. Sorry that I am not adept at linking or I would have done that!

I did actually and all the links that lead back to Shavemac to view the tutorial are no longer active.

That's too bad. The only thing that I remember about the warning had to do with the way that "Shavemac" was printed on the handle. Perhaps others may remember something more specific. Or you could pm Bernd?

I do remember that the difference in the printing was subtle, but obvious when you compared the two. If you are looking at a picture of one you suspect, perhaps comparing it to an on-screen picture of a real Shavemac would make it evident.

Well what I've seen are brushes that look like Shavemacs but don't have any wording on them at all. I know looking at the Shavemac site that it is possible to not include a label at all which makes it even more difficult.

Some shavemacs have "Shavemac Handmade" enscribed on the bottom of the handle. I have one like that and one with the logo on the side of the handle. Shavemac's logo is written with a lower-case "s", and the "h" is in a different (sort of italic) font. That was the difference Bernd pointed out when he compared his to the fake brushes.
