I need a musk aftershave

I am running out of Aqua Velva Musk and was wanting to try something different. I am wanting to get something with a bit more longevity. I do not now that much about the sent it may not have longevity built in. I love the AV though, I may need to go to a cologne, maybe Pinaud Citrus Musk or .....

Clubman Classic Vanilla is a wonderful, budget friendly musk aftershave...it smells absolutely nothing like vanilla...it's a very deep musk.

Warning: don't get the Clubman Musk aftershave, smells nothing like musk...just watered down clubman aftershave...go figure!

Can't vouch for Jovan Musk, but Jovan is great in general so that's probably a safe bet too.

If you want to move upscale a bit, I can not recommend Royall Muske highly enough. It's a cologne, not an aftershave. But it has the most delicious, slightly flowerly, barbershop sweet musk smell. I always get compliments from the fairer sex when I wear it!

Yep, I was just searching this out. I always try the sampler when I am in Mast General Store. I may go that way, for ten more bucs than the Jovan.

Has anyone tried them both?

Jovan musk is almost identical to AV musk to my nose. I'd recommend Avon black suede, either splash or ASB. It's a sweet/citrusy musk IMO

Mama Bear Masculine Musk is my personal favorite scent. It is described as "Think of masculine sandalwood, velvety vanilla, lingering musk with a twist of orange." on the Mama Bear web sight. If it means anything I have the soap, the summer after shave, and the winter aftershave. Plus I am milling a soap stick out of it :thumbup1:

Both summer and winter aftershaves are good, but I would recommend the summer one more. The winter is moisturizing but I get better results from mixing some summer aftershave with a traditional moisturizer. YMMV though.

I love Royall Musk but strictly use it as a cologne. It burns incredibly when used as an aftershave.

Don't get me wrong - I love the burn of an alcohol based splash but this is going waaaaaay too far. I regularly use and enjoy their other lotions as aftershaves (Bay Rhum, Lyme, Vetiver)

Really? I've not considered this because if I wanted to smell like vanilla, I'd just splash on some extract.

Hmmmm....

Vanilla extract as an aftershave...cranky! That's an idea!!!! You know what, just for the hell of it, I might add a dash to some witch hazel in my hand and see how it goes!!!! LOL! What an idea!

But about the Clubman: true story, smells nothing like vanilla. Total animal musk...of a different nature than AV Musk. A bit more skanky to my nose. That said, ladies like it (the same ladies who say bay rum smells like grandpa, so that's saying somethin there). Can't describe it, just different. Give it a whirl!

Denim Musk
Good longevity and smells nice... :)

I bought a bottle on your recommendation and it's great! My nostalgia glands were already up from wearing Blue Stratos for the first time in twenty years, but the Denim Musk just sent me spiralling back to the time when I first started going to pubs (I was sixteenish). My mates and I would enter reeking of Blue Stratos, but the older drinkers' aftershave won out - and many must have been wearing Denim Musk. I'd have never worn it back then, but then they were men who did't have to try too hard, and we were boys that did :biggrin1:

At 43 I think I'm old enough to join the gang now. Great scent, the wood and leather of Denim, but with a shot of patchouli, and a good slug of musk. It lasts a lot longer on my skin than original Denim too - will certainly wear Denim Musk a lot in future.
