Ok, so everyone talks well of the Edwin Jagger DE89. I bought one as my first razor. Never did like it much since I could not get a good shave from it without irritation. My shave was close but I always had some lower neck irritaion, so I tried some other razors. The Tech, better shave and less irritation. Then the SS, better too. Then the open combs, even better yet. Long story short I revisited it the other day. Yes my technique has evolved, and for the first time I put a feather in it. Wow! Great shave, very close, zero irritation. Just when I thought I was getting my list of keeper razors down, this seems to put me back to square 1
.
Now I attribute my longer learning curve to 4 things (or I guess you might even use the word "blame"):
1. With the irritation I was getting I was shaving every 2-3 days, it definately takes longer to learn.
2. Even though I'm in my mid 30's, with cartridge razors I shaved once a week so I don't have a whole lot of shaving experience (I work in construction so I can do that)
3. With my technique improving, my lathering has also improved a lot, making all shaves better
4. I took too long to start trying the nice and sharp blades, boy are they great. Feels like a different razor all together. There is somthing to be said about the right combo.
So even though it was my fault we wern't talking, me and Edwin made up
. I am very excited that I can now get a DFS and push for a BBS without irritation. Just wanted to post my victory dance!

Thanks for listening guys, and enjoy your shaves!
