What's new

I just won 2 different lather catchers!

2 and a half!
that one is a 1914 ever ready, kind of a mini lather-catcher. (the one that says 'lift here')
Nice prices.

of course, I have no idea why people say that. It really doesn't have any more of a lather catching underside than a 1912. :confused1

Where ya been, Mark? I haven't seen you around as much lately.

Nice lather catchers, by the way. My SE love affair is blossoming more and more every day as well.

I guess because they are a bit more scoop shaped.:001_smile

Well our local antique shops haven't been getting any new razors...so I haven't had any thing to really post about. Maybe you've been one step ahead of me and nabbing the good ones. :thumbup1: If you haven't used a 1901 Gem Bar lather catcher you really should, they shave as wonderful as a 1912 and are just a bit cooler looking but a lot harder to find and can be extremely expensive.

I wish I could say I've been one step ahead of you, but the sad truth is that I'm back in school. The antique stores are all yours for the next several months, my friend. I'm starting to develop vintage shaving brush AD anyway, so we might be after different things for a while.

Here's just a few of my brushes. I have several more that don't have pics of.

Congratulations! I bid on the Gems as well but set a limit of $25. I really liked the Gem 1901!

As far as the Lather catchers go you probably need to be prepared to spend a bit more than $25 to win one, they usually go for quite a bit more, I just got lucky tonight. I don't do Ebay that often but when I do on occasion I go in with the mindset that i'm gonna win no matter what I have to bid, yes it gets me in the poor house but I don't bid unless it's something that I want bad enough to bid whatever it takes.

Yeah, the limit of $25 was a little low...trying to stay out of the poor-house myself.

Any info on BARBERSHOP brand? Handles look very nice.

I, too, bid on those Gems, but I only set a limit of $28. I just couldn't justify spending more when I've already got about 5 of those 1901's!
My favorite razor, btw.

Nice score! I love the Lather Catcher look but you collectors do a good job keeping them out of my hands. Just as well, I suppose.
