What's new

I have the best girlfriend ever....

So, my girlfriend has been very supportive of my new "hobby" of wetshaving (She actually likes watching me shave - she says it's "Very Manly"). She and her mother went antique shopping today, and she sent me the following picture via text and asked "Do you want this?":

I replied with a very calm and collected "YES! YES!"

So, $19.99 (I guess the guy sort of knew what he had, but not quite) later I have a mint/near mint condition 1969 (O2) black beauty long handle. I will never make fun of her for antique shopping again, and I've already prepped her with a detailed description of a fatboy.

I couldn't be more excited. This is my first ever gillette adjustable and only my second DE (after my EJ D89l). Three months into wet shaving, and I'm thinking I've started developing RAD. :w00t:

Just curious....I'm not seeing many of these floating around the BST. Are they just not as desirable as fatboys, etc or are they just harder to come across? Or am I just not looking hard enough?

Even better than that, you've got a case of "RAD by Proxy." Its not many shavers that can get the women in their lives to do the antique-hunting for them. Even rarer when they come up with a good find like this one.

Both are true ... the black-handled slim is not the most popular razor, but that doesn't stop it from being a good tool to have in your den.

Enjoy the razor ... and your girlfriend. They both sound like winners.

Nice razor! That was my first razor, stole it from my dad...now that he ie into wet shaving again he stole it back.

Well done, now get her to find one for herself. Mine just left on a trip and explained to me that she packed her "travel razor", "travel brush", and "travel soap". I knew she had a second brush and soap, but was surprised to find one of my Techs missing:blink:

The Fatboy gets all of the hype, so the Super Adjustable is somewhat forgotten about. I have owned a Fatboy, a Slim, and a Super Adjustable, and vastly preferred the Super Adjustable out of the three.

It's a solid well built razor, that will last you a lifetime!!

Great find, you are a lucky man to have your girlfriend looking for you. She is enabling your R.A.D. and that's awesome!
