What's new

I had given up on Crystals.

I had set aside my last two Crystals and four Feathers because they were the two blades I did not like in my original sample pack. Both of these blades did not work for me in any of my razors. Couple days ago I decided I was going to use them so I did not have go see them any longer. I placed one in my EJ DE89. Shave was ok but they were not as smooth as BICs in this razor. My next shave I was about to toss the blade when I looked over and saw my Old Type with a ball end tech handle. I decided to give it a go and loaded the Crystal in my old type loaded my Duke 2 2 band with some RR MdB another one of my neglected products at the moment. When I was done some after two passes and some touch up and finished up with Aqua Velva and wow. Can you say BBS? So for my next shave I loaded the last Crystal and again BBS with my old type. Now I need to order some Crystals. I had almost given up on my old type as well because my other blades were not smooth in this razor. I will try the Feathers in the old type next.

Glad that you thought to pair the Crystals with the Old Type.

I'm always great to find those magical pairings of seemingly awkward razor blade combinations.

Nice to hear that you found the right combo for your old type and are now getting more use and BBS's out of it.

I'm still fairly new to DE shaving. But finding the right razor and blade set up, along with product combinations that give me the best shave. Is what I really enjoy about the hobby.

This one thing I have discovered is there are just some blades that will work for you in only one Razor handle. When you discover them. Order plenty of blades and enjoy the Shaves.

I recently put a Feather in my Bakelite slant and it was awful. I like Feathers and love the slant. Thought it would be a killer combo, but couldn't have been more wrong. When I popped a Polisilver in after two shaves, bingo!, back to slant heaven.

I put a Crystal in my IKO (Imported Knock Off) and got a pretty good shave, but with a little razor burn on my cheeks. Not the great shave I got from them before. Guess I'll chalk it up to operator error ;-)
