What's new

I can't seem to use my other soaps/creams

I bought a few soaps up front when I got back into wet shaving recently, TOBS sandalwood, Mike's Natural Soaps Barbershop, Tube of Proraso, and great one on ETSY. My favorite scent is my tub of Jermyn street cream. However, none of them really get used. I always reach for a red tub of Cella (I want to try the kilo) or the p160. I haven't even opened up the Mike's barbershop scent and have used the others 2-3 times. It's hard to let go of the super creamy Italian soaps.

I would probably split it up on here. I am leaning toward buying a kilo of p160, and since it's no longer being made, I would hoard that.

I picked up vanilla sandalwood and lavender.

Cella is great, but a kilo would take me years to go through....I love variation!

Which Etsy soap did you buy?

You've got to crack open the Mike's Natural Barbershop and give it a whirl before you make any decision. It's a latherilious marvel.

Just send me your Paypal addy and I'll take some of those off of your hands. :tongue_sm
I may do that. But not yet.
I really do like them all, but I also like knowing what to expect when lathering. So far I think it's close between the P160 and the Cella. I'll need to use the P160 a bit more. I'm still trying to find a blade that is "perfect", so I didn't want to change up the lather too much. One variable at a time. So far I'm liking the Merkur HD with the yellow or blue gillette blades and p160 or cella. I'm enjoying the convenience of DE shaving so much that I haven't touched my straights in a month.

I will probably do that this weekend. I tried one of his other scents that he threw in a sample of. It's a good lather. I don't have any complaints. It's the one I let my five year old use, he has his own bowl to shave with me.

Is there a problem? :-D

There are worse soaps to get stuck on than Cella. I myself do that with Cella and Arko. After these two soaps it's really hard to get impressed with lather. Scent is another story. My Arko is well aired out, so not offensive any more and Cella is just mild in scent, which is a good way to make friends with me if you are a soap. I tried super expensive English triple milled soaps and liked them, but at that cost I'll keep Cella. I like the fact that they are not reformulating it (supposedly they never reformulated it) and it is very consistent. I also like the fact that we have such a rich variety to choose from. It can get a bit overwhelming and that's when it's nice to have a "home" soap. The one you know how to use and love using it. Cella is relatively inexpensive and widely available and is a super shaving soap, so enjoy. For me if I could only have two soaps they would be Cella and Arko. If only one... My head is about to explode! Either one would be fine. Arko is way cheaper and Cella does not need to be aired out. Tough to choose. I suppose Cella has a little better skin care than Arko, but that's splitting hairs.

haven't tried Arko yet. I won't be buying any more until I get to fully enjoy the ones I have. Except for a kilo of p160 before it's completely gone.

You should get a few sticks of Arko and start airing them out. By the time you want to use them, they'll be ready :) Seriously, Arko is worth a try just because it's so inexpensive. And it's a stick, so you rub it on your face. Different application also changes the routine up a little. If you don't like it, you PIF it and you are out $3. If you like it, you have a super-duper stick in your arsenal that's practically free.

+1 try and order it with the P.160 since it's like $1-2 and twice that much in shipping usually...
