What's new

I bought some vintage "Tonsorial" soap??

I bid on an auction today and won. It was a shaving brush, which I want for the handle.

The auction also included some shaving soap. I know nothing about this, but it seems to be imprinted with "Tonsorial". Will this be any good?

I almost bid on that....
From what I've read, that soap was made by Williams for barbers.
Search it out on Google. Lather it up when you get it and let us know how it turns out. ( I'm curious to know if it has any scent to it )

I bought a puck of Williams Tonsorial from Ian (Slice of Life), and it is great stuff. Lathers like a champ and has that great smell of tallow soap, it reminds me of a fresh box of crayons.

I bought a puck too.....now I'm gonna have to try it. I just wrapped it up and turfed it in my 'vintage' drawer. That was clearly a stupid thing to do :)

I also bought a puck from Ian. It's wonderful stuff!! Vintage Williams was a superb soap! Quick to generate a super rich, and creamy lather.

I was watching that auction for a while as well. Looking at that photo, there is actually some other kind of soap sitting underneath the Williams puck. If you consider the total depth of the mug, it's clear the puck of Williams is not sitting on the bottom of the mug. It could be some remnants of Old Spice, or some mystery soap. :tongue_sm

Yes, the bottom of the mug could contain a bonus. I'm hoping it's Vintage Old Spice Soap. So far that's my favorite! Easy to lathery, very slippery and no strong scent.

Anyway, I'll post photos once the package arrives.

I have a massive fishing saved search for everything remotely related to shaving soap and have no idea how I did not see this auction. Was it a 24hr listing or what?

Congrats on the catch.

I haven't had a puck of that in over 35 years, but that's the scent I remember too.

Crayola sucks since they reformulated. I miss Prussian Blue!
