Its been quite some time since I been in the forums...work and well just life had kept me at bay but I never stopped shaving! Over the past few months I exclusively used Tabac and D.R. Harris soap to shave with. After all that time, after all those shaves, I can clearly say that D.R. Harris performs better than Tabac IMHO. The lather is richer, thicker and has more cushion. I get a closer shave with less irritation. Don't get me wrong I love Tabac, but D.R. Harris has it beat and it will now be my primary soap. As for shaving cream I have found that Toms of Maine Mint has worked wonders, its my go to shaving cream. I have used the same hardware the entire time I have been shaving since I settled down on my primary razor and blade. I currently use a 40's Aristocrat and Gillette Sharp Edge blades (yellow pack) and I get the best shaves I could ever want. So, what do you guys think?

I hope you stock up on the Toms of Maine since it is discontinued.

Tabac cream is B-quality at best, so no harm done there. As for DR Harris... I think I understand why people like it. It's hassle-free and is good at what it's supposed to do. Personally I found the lather I obtained from Almond too dry for comfort. That said, you gave both products more than a fair shot, so I leave you with a 'bravo!' for your efforts, and wish you well with your Harris soaps.

Other than here, I have not heard anything concerning TOM being discontinued.
A few different individuals have confirmed this, although you can still find it. I don't think it was an overly popular product, thus the product was discontinued.

Same, I've almost been there a couple of times, specifically with MWF. It can induce discontinuation related panic attacks and apocalyptic hoarding though - not healthy.

I haven't tried many other soaps and I am hoping that I will be able to in the future but as of now, Harris works the best for me.
I love the creamy lather from Tabac and I am aching to try some Harris too. One of these days im gunna have to pick up a puck of the almond. Now i just gotta think of a way to sneak the package past the SWMBO.......

I'd choose Tabac over DRH if I could only choose one, but that just me. Both are top notch performers. I like my steak and my cheesecake.
They are both excellent, tallow-based soaps. I am glad that I do not have to choose one over the other, as both are near the very top of my batting order.

How can it be wrong if it works well for you. Congrats on finding the one! I'm to new to settle on one yet. I haven't tried DRH soap, is it a tallow soap?
I see Tom's of Maine Mint and Calendula at a grocery closeout store I go to, more of the Mint than the other, now. They are charging $2.49 a tube.
Every time I go I buy one, but my wife HATES the smell of the mint, so I mostly buy the Calendula. I'm pretty sure once it's gone, it's gone.

Between Tabac and Harris my choice would be Tabac, although I do enjoy my Harris I could never give up Tabac.

Oh I won't be giving Tabac up completely, I am going to still use it especially when I have an all Tabac shave.
It has tallow in it ... I think about the third of fourth ingredient.
