How's this for stupid?

I get out a fresh puck of Trumpers and drop it in a wooden bowl, a new Feather blade for my slant, and start to lather up my Rooney 1/2. And I am churning and churning and churning away trying to build up a good lather. Nothing is happening. Then I realize - I forgot to take the clear plastic wrap off of the puck of soap!!!

The only stupid shave moment I've had was when using a OC Micromatic. Completed a pass, rinsed the razor and tried to shave again but it wouldn't cut the stubble. Took me more time than I would like to admit to realise that after rinsing I spun the razor around (something I always do with a DE) so I was then running the flat part of the back part of the razors head against my face.

Take it from me, that is not an effective way to shave

I had a similar experience with a MB shave stick - they occasionally get a skin on the top which needs to be scraped off before first use. Not knowing this I was busy whisking away wondering why everybody loved MB soaps so much and I wasn't getting any lather at all. In fact of course MB soaps are some of the best out there (at any price).
