How Tough is Tiger??? Take Two!

So, here we are again. Now its the PGA Championship, 5 shot lead with a hole to go.

Its one thing to hit great golf shots. Its another entirely to hit them, over and over again, with that may people watching you.

I chunk 'em into the water or rough when there's no one watching!:cursing:

The guy is just tough.

For some reason I have never liked Tiger, but I have always respected how awesome he is... today is just another example... after watching him in the Brithish it is hard to see how anyone can ever beat him.

Ability, skill and confidence and when he is in the "zone" you are just playing for second place. The early days saw Bobby Jones, then it was Arnie followed by Jack. In our time is Tiger Woods. One day we will tell stories to our grandkids about this awesome golfer and they will see replays on TV on Golf Channel classics and ask "granpa is that the guy you told me about". As a golfer I admire what he can do with a golf ball, simply amazing.

I must admit that golf was something I never considered as a sport until recently. I followed the name players and always looked for the humor in their situations.

However, when I first heard about Tiger( he was still @ Stanford), I felt it was time to really pay attention ( a good black golfer{being black myself, I kept waiting for the punchline}- yeah, right!)

What I have seen from him that separates him from the rest is not only his willingness to 'grab the course by the throat and shake until its dead' is also his ability to recognize exactly how and when to do so.

What's truly fascinating is that barring any major catastrophe, we will get to watch him perform for the next 15-20 years or so. Up until now, the athlete who I felt had the strongest will to win had been Michael Jordan( err, the hated Michael Jordan{ I am a Knick fan through and through}It's a beautiful thing to watch someone perform on the world scene and do so at the top of their craft time after time).

Now golf with Tiger has become 'must see TV' and in my mind has become that most sublime of sports- you not only contend against others, but yourself and the course as well. So when you win, that counts as 3 victories in my book. The only thought that gives me pause is, will I be around to see the individual who surpasses Tiger?

As a recreational golfer, it is simply amazing how well the guy playes--especially under pressure.

Its also a testament to his skills that he has brought lots of people to the game of golf who thought it was equivalent to watching paint dry before seeing Tiger play.

I thought that was watching bowling...

I don't golf, but I love to watch Tiger. He has such superlative skills and concentration that you just have to like watching him play. He's the only golfer I know who can come back from being several strokes behind and then win several strokes ahead of the competition. I wish I could do any sport half as well.

5 in a row!!!!!

We are truly watching something special right now. He *may* have a shot at one of the most untouchable records in any sport--Byron Nelson's 11 tournament winds in a row.

Who woulda thunk it?!
