How to clean soap grater

Hello,

I recently got a Parmesan grater similar to:

I use it for grinding my soaps into bowls/reshaping old pucks etc...
What is a good way to get the soap remnants out of it after grinding?

I got moves like Jagger
I take mine apart and just wash it. An old toothbrush helps get the soap out of the corner buts.

Yep. I just grated a puck of vintage Williams into a shave stick container. I just ran it under hot water until all the soap residue was gone. It's just soap after all.

I used one of those the first time I grated soap and it all got clogged up in the middle of the cylinder. Switched to a box grater and been much happier. YMMV.

Either way, just stuck them into the dishwasher, its just soap after all.

One tip I learned about grating the soap is to put the soap in the freezer for a few minutes so it'll be hard enough that it won't clog the grater. Haven't actually grated any soap so not sure how good the tip is but it seems to make sense.

Just soap it in hot water for about an hour, the soap crud should dissolve and fall off easily. I do this all the time after grating my shave sticks.

Sarimento1: My soap collection is nothing much to see. I have some MWF and a stick of La Toja for travel.

Thanks for the replies. I'm gonna try the dishwasher first before any sort of work on my part.

Oh that's good, I'm going to have to try that.

I actually did freeze my soap. It did not clog the grater but there were some shavings stuck to the walls of the grater.

Maybe you could flush the soap out of it by grating a block of cheddar?

Seriously though, it's just soap. It washes away, especially if you dissassemble the grater and put it in the dishwashwer.

Haha. I don't know what would be worse. Having soap in my cheese or cheese in my soap

Edit: No, having soap in my cheese would be much much worse
