How to best use both edges?

Hi gang,

Starting week 3 and loving it! Thanks to all who have been helpful, so far. Now, I've got a question, though.

In all my reading and research, I haven't see anything yet that describes how you can best make use of both edges of the blade. Is it a "use one side until it's done, then switch" or "use both sides equally as you go along" or maybe something entirely different? Can anyone point me to some good writing about this subject?

Thanks!
Dave

Yes, I suppose as cheap as blades are we don't really have to worry about it too much. So far, I've been using the "random" method, as well. I just can't help feeling like I'm not getting full use out of the blade. I guess my dad's frugal teachings have rubbed off a bit too much.

I rotate back and forth randomly during each shave. I trust in the universe to even things out eventually.

+1

Shave with one side, turn the razor, shave, rinse!

I keep a spreadsheet. . . .

(I actually do it the way the others do)

Excel comes soo incredibly handy for wetshaving. I've got an algorithm that tells me when I need to switch sides.

But really, I just use both sides during the shave. Whatever side doesn't have shaving cream on it gets used next.

I always forget which side I used last, so it's kind of random for me. Eventually one side begins to rust, then I use the other side for a bit then toss it.

I usually rotate razor each time I move from a section to another. For example cheek with one edge and another cheek with another edge. Neck with one and chin with another..

exactly. it all works out in the end

Officially it's known as "The Law of Big Numbers".

I shave with one side until it needs rinsed, flip the razor and shave until the second side needs rinsed; then rinse both and start over.
