how often do youchange Brands of blades?

hello-- Working my way thru a 100+ pack sampler-- (so far big bens , feather, gilette 7 o Clock, and put in a shark today).

Got me wondering, how often do you try new brands, do you stick with one brand for years, are you a perpetual sampler, try a few per year?

newbie mind wants to know!!

well, when I was working through samplers . . . A LOT.

I'm down to 4 blades now, I just rotate them regularly.

I used to sample a lot. But, now I rotate through Gillette 7 O'clock Blacks, Yellows & Gillette Bleue Extra. Sometimes I'll use a vintage blade, such as a Swede.

I switched brands with every blade change when I was starting out. Today, I mostly use Feathers, but mix it up with an Iridium or a 7 O'Clock yellow now and then.

I still a bit of a noob, so I am changing brands every time I change a blade, so about every third shave. I am currently rotating 5 brands, Derby Extras, Personnas, Wilkinson Sword, Supermax SS and Gillette Bleue. So far my favourite are the Personnas, with Supermax SS in second. I haven't tried the Gillettes yet. I am working my way up to Feathers. I really wish I hadn't bought 100 Derbys.

After a lot of experimenting, I've settled on a few favorites - Red IP's, Gillette 7 O'Clock Yellows, Bleue Extras, '74 French Super Silvers, and Spoilers, and Shark Stainless...

OK, I guess that's several favorites, not just a few. I also use Feathers occasionally and I keep giving Astra SPs and Super Iridiums a chance, but half the time they end up disappointing me.

And that's just DE's - I'm still trying to find my favorite injector blade. For SE's I'm limited to GEMs (drugstore and Pella) - the cost of having Treets shipped to the Czech Republic is mad stupid ridiculous for some reason...

Anyway, I just like to mix things up. I don't usually shave with the same brand of DE two days in a row - it depends on the razor I'm using and how my face feels that day.

I want to get it all down to one product. I want one blade, one razor, one brush, one cream and one aftershave. As much as I enjoy all the experimentation and the collecting I would like to rationalise it all.

Good luck with that Speed. I have a number of brushes, blades, etc. Now that I'm down to a Feather and IP for blades and a Mergress and Bull Mastiff for razor, I still use a number of soaps, colognes... . I don't see much more change coming. As a matter of fact, I never know what I'm using till I get to the sink, then after my shave, I pick the scent.

Right now, because I have several different brands of blades on hand, I change brands every time I change blades. As my supply dwindles, I'll likely buy 100 or 200 of some brand that I like and stick with those (having done that with Derby for about a year not long after I first got started DE shaving).

I'm also sampling a pack of Shark Super Chromes and really enjoy them so far.

I m pretty new to the De shaving and bought a sampler pack right out of the gate... Started with the Merkur that came with safety razor. Next i hit the Wilkinson classics, then astras platinum,
I have been changing blades every 3 shaves and its hard to tell as a new DE shaver my technique seems to get better so the variables are not perfect for a newbie to really give the best opinion. Ill say that so far i got bit by the astra a little. Going to use the iridiums another wilkinson i think indian, 7 0clock, feather and sharks are on the schedule. I really havent found one I really disliked yet and not really sure if i love any of them over another. My 2 cents

yah as i thought all seem to try a lot for a while--- just my 3-4 weeks ---and all i ahve used are pretty good - big ben, fether, sword, gilette 7 o'clock
so many more to try!!

guess I should hold off on deciding and enjoy the ride--- I am using for 4 days... than moving on...

I use a brand for awhile and then change. Like the ladies they can cut but can become dull in a blink

I've went from rotating 5 down to just Bleue Extra's & Super Iridium's

Razors on the other hand are the issue for me right now, 6 in the cupboard & a #59 set on the way

I used to test out new blades often my first year, now I just rotate between three blades.
