What's new

How long for a brush to dry to it's 'as new' level?

Doing some cleaning here, I have some brushes I want to just store back in their original box/tissue in a closet for a while and then break them out again in a few months. They've been used as part of a rotation relatively recently. They've all had at least a few days to dry in the open, do you think this would be long enough? Is there any consensus on how long a brush needs to dry before it's back to the same level of dryness it had when it was new? Wondering if they may appear dry, but way down deep there could still be some moisture that would make it not a good idea to box them back up. Any ideas? Few days, weeks, months? Anyone have any horror stories of boxing up a damp brush

Thanks!

In my experience, more than 24 hours, but almost always less than 48. If you give it three days, I'd say you're good (I've never seen a wet brush after three days).

Yeah, depends on the density, but if you put your nose into most brushes they will still have not completely dried 24 hours later.

I'd say wait at least 48 hours to be sure.

I think my smaller brushes are dry at between 24-48 hours. I think my Tulip 2takes about 48-72 to completely dry. The bigger, denser knots take longer, no doubt.
