How is this more convenient than a DE razor?

Who would put a crank-powered electric razor to their face? Yes, they actually sell these... They have one for sale here for $10: http://www.dealgenius.com/p-774-crank-powered-shaver-dual-head-cordless.aspx

I just thought I'd share this, as I find it hilarious ( except for the fact that they actually exist )

If you were living in an area with little water and little electricity....why the heck not?
(I think I'd rather have a beard myself....)

I think it would suck to be using it and have the battery start to drain a little... the drop in blade speed would turn that from a semi-functional device to a certified hair puller!

I tend to concur with Haggises. You crank it a few times to charge up the battery and then press the button and use it. It's more like a survivalist electric razor for emergencies. (Not that I would use one myself!)

Seems like a reasonable option if one is hiking/camping in the boondocks and chooses to shave (instead of growing a beard), provided it actually works.

Looks like a Star Trek prop.

Somehow, I doubt that this has Norelco / Remington / Panasonic / Philips / Braun quaking in their boots.

In a word- no
Two words- no way
Three words- no effin' way (pardon my french)
Four words- like I said, NO

I could see this being useful for men who spend time outdoors in an arid environment. If put into that position, I know I'd rather drink my water than shave with it.

This. If water is limited this would be pretty nice depending on the blade speed and how long it holds its charge.

At some point, there were flashlights made in both germany and russia that used similar technology. Also, I recall seeing radios with similar technology being marketed for use during power outages and such.

That said, if water were that severely rationed, I think I'd rather use a battery powered travel razor (the kind that use AA batteries). If you plan ahead, you could also use a flashlight that uses the same batteries.

If water is that scarce, I think whether or not I was cleanly shaven would be at the bottom of the list. No way that thing works worth a rip anyway.
