Just curious, honestly. A modern day safety razor, are they durable? I went to dip mine in water and it tapped the sink; I just wasn't paying attention. I know this sounds kind of dumb, but I'm just curious to their durability (it made me wonder).
I've heard this, but I have also heard the formula has greatly improved in the recent years and for razor use is perfect. Seems like it may be one of those things that people have believed for a long time, but not true anymore? They're made out of pot metal. Don't drop it or crank it too hard when tightening. Also, hard water will make it more brittle.

I didn't think that damage was done, but thought I'd ask. I have two vintage Gillette's and one had a nasty fall...still all good. So I guess a tap won't do much.
True, but technology has improved soI would assume some pot metals are better for this application.
Depends on the specific razor in question. How easy to damage a razor?
Looking up Zamak, it seems like it's not so bad anymore, I'd say I'm completely safe.
