How does Rooney stay in business?

There is no website for them.
No contact information.
No place in the entire online world, except Vintage Blades, carries the Heritage/Stubby line.
What could their business model be?

I am NOT questioning the quality of the brushes. They are IMPOSSIBLE to contact.

You can always contact Lee Sabini directly. Doesn't he still own the rights to the Rooney brand?

I seem to recall Classic Shaving carried some of the Heritage line a while ago. Now it appears that
only Vintage carries them.

They stay in business because those brushes are some of the best. Fantastic product.

Rooneys ROCK!!! :punk:

+1 Love my Rooney Brushes.

Here is some info, from a 2009 thread, by Jim of VB regarding Rooney.

And I just heard that Congress is going to solve this country's economic problems. Talk about things that you can't believe.

R.A Rooney is in business and will continue to be for the foreseeable future under the leadership of Lee Sabini. Yes, I do speak to him on an almost weekly basis.

This week we talked about the continuing problems sourcing the Finest grade of badger hair, among other things. I have not had a shipment of Finest brushes in over a year and am rapidly running out of stock.

If you want to pick up the latest line of bull, the best best place to do it is at a trade show. This is where companies will spin that all but their company is having production, quality, supply, or whatever problems. I go to these shows regularly, and in my former career in the pharmaceutical industry worked the other side of the table. It the selling game.

Anyway, the word the Rooney is going out of business is nothing but a baseless rumor.

Follow-up on the issue of the Rooney factory phone number being disconnected. Rooney is in the process of moving to a much larger facility just down the road (so much for then going out of business). Also, they have never been easy to reach. All contact with Lee and his No. 2 is via their cell and text message on their BlackBerry. I'd be surprised if they even maintain a land line in the new facility.:001_smile

I only have one Rooney brush.

I guess I am not that much of a supporter of their products but I do like the one Rooney brush I have.

I used it earlier today as a matter of fact

As others have pointed out they do make brushes for other vendors that do not bear the Rooney brand. It seems to me that Rooney sees the shops who buy their brushes and sell them to consumers as their most important clients. I have seen reports that they sell all that they can make so what do they need with a website?

My Rooney 1/1 pure was a bust. Not as dense as people say it is. Too floppy. Would not stop shedding or breaking hairs in the beginning. Still sheds one hair every two shaves. On the upside, the knot was fan-shaped and the handle a work of art. I can't wait to reknot it with a TGN finest in the (hopefully near) future.

Err.... great brushes no doubt.... but Vintage Blade do not ship outside the USA.

Anyone knows how to get one from another vendor (other than contacting Lee Sabini directly)?

That's surprising to hear. I have two 1/1s, and they're anything but floppy. What are your brush's knot dimensions? Maybe you just got a bad one.

I have more than half a dozen Rooneys, and I don't remember noticing any of them ever shedding a hair. (Did have an M&F Blonde 2-band that went through a phase.)
