How do you guys feel

How do you guys feel about Shave Secret's shave oil? I was doing some reading and it seemed that a lot of people were having a ton of success with the product. I was at WalMart and stumbled across a bottle for $3.50 and decided to give it a try, but I have yet to shave with it yet. So what is your guys' opinion/experiences with Shave Secret's shave oil?

I liked the scent, but after my initial enthusiasm it faded.

It's performance isn't bad with an SR, but it is harder to rinse out of a DE.

I never bought a second bottle.

I bought it on a whim and now wish I hadn't. It gave me a rash on the neck. But on the plus side it was a good shave. I even went back to it after a week, just to give it a fair shake, with the same result. Now it sits there until I find someone to pawn it off on.

Before I started shaving with a DE it was a godsend. I tried it with a DE but it gunked up the razor far too much (like many others have said). If I'm in a pinch and need to used a cartridge razor it works quite well.

I have seen it and contemplated buying it, but I didn't. My shower is in my basement and my shaving bathroom on the second floor. I eventually opted for Noxzema. I get out of the shower, dry off, goop some Noxzema on, and round up whatever and head upstairs. Once I get there a few minutes later, I rub some water into the stuff to rehydrate it and make my lather. I have found that unless I wash off the Noxzema it will clog up my razor if I just lather over it. It works nice, or I think it does anyways. I might try the oil one of these days.

I went through two or three bottles of the stuff. It has a pleasant clove scent (YMMV). It was absolutely horrible as a stand alone substitute for shave cream or soap. Applied lightly, it was a decent pre-shave product and did not clog my razor as others above have reported. I've found that Noxzema was more effective (and cheaper) as a pre-shave and that the Proraso pre-shave cream is even better than the Noxzema. If I was out of the Proraso and couldn't find the Noxzema, I'd pick up another bottle of the shave oil to use in a pinch. For me, I get a much better shave when using a pre-shave product. Again, YMMV.

clogged my razor bad. I sometimes add a few drops to Bigelow shave cream and it seems to create a really smooth slick lather, but by itself..... garbage

I use it daily. Add a few drops to each cheek and neck, rub it in, then apply the soap. It gives me a smoother shave, and have yet to notice it clogging the razor. Then again, I might not be using as much as others. Also, I LOVE the smell.

So I gave it a go on my face today (had a bad shave, letting my neck heal before another go) and it seemed to be a okay. I usually use an American Crew pre-shave oil so this was a tad different, but same warm sesensation when applied to the face. I'll try to add it to mug while building a lather next time instead of massaging it in with my fingers!

It is okay for me, but not great in lubricity. I only use it as a pre-shave oil, I wouldn't dare use it as a cream replacement. I like Shave Secret better than Art of Shaving, but not NEARLY as much as King Of Shaves pre-shave oil. I like it the best.

Wrong question. You already own it, and peoples' opinions vary. So the question is:

. . . How do _you_ feel about it?

I own a bottle and I got it at Wal Mart as well curious as to what crap it could be, well in my opinion it seems a pretty decent shave product as I have a couple times used it alone by itself for a full shave and well it gave me great results and a clean close shave and left my skin smooth and looking great. Unsure about other people but it works for me and glad I bought it and it severs me on those rare lazy days where I don't want to make lather and all that or am in a hurry and need a good product that will prevent the razor from biting me, the smell isn't so bad as I like the smell of cloves as well. I never noticed any gunking up of my razor, rinse it out after using both sides of the razor and continue on...I never noticed any thing that effected the razors cutting or performance...I dunno why ppl say it gunks up the razor...perhaps there not too keep on having to clean the razor after a shave with it oil has to be gotten off with soap and water so...I dunno my razors are lovely tools but I don't pamper them that much I shave and then clean them and dry them and thats that. Nice product, not for every one though lol.
